HTC to shut down its office in South Korea

30 July, 2012
The move comes reportedly due to HTC's inability to compete with Samsung on its home turf.

HTC eager to earn quick money, lack of local advertisement, poor marketing strategy, should concentrate on customer needs and do more promotion to attract customer further...

I think the problem with Htc is that they tend to ignore the emerging markets like Africa. Making high end phones that no body buys makes no sense at all. Samsung understood this and is taking advantage of this in the emerging market making mid range phones like the galaxy ace, pocket for this markets and also high end phones for the markets that can afford them. Htc phones are way too expensive, let the focus on mid range phones for the emerging market and make their presence felt in these markets by opening offices in countries like Kenya,Nigeria etc

Soon HTC will close their offices to the whole world!!!

They are a company of lairs and cheaters who just make their customers fool. HTC is going to be past very soon!

HTC is in a very difficult position their real loss is Brand recognition and this is where Samsung have made huge gains. After Apple Samsung phones (Galaxy top end) have the highest resale values. I buy new Galaxy's every year and tend to get about £200 on buy back there are no HTC phones that give that return after a year.

In a position like this HTC need to exceed Samsung's best to get back into the game. The One X is a good phone but they made two serious errors with the battery and lack of micro-sd slot. They need to listen to their customers.

I do agree that the market is better with HTC in it.

Lets's hope that HTC pull it together. Fanboys may be happy to see them struggle but it's only going to make us all suffer by reducing competition in the market.
My 2 cents - maybe they could merge with Nokia to give them a foothold in the android market.

Oh yeah, marketing marketing and more marketing! Also reduce the number of stupid low and mid range phones on the market, it dilutes market share. One for each end of the range should be fine.

Is the HTC One x not cheaper than the S3? Get a grip guys, HTC needs to re-focus on what it does best and market it properly. The company is known for designing premium handsets but I would suggest ensuring the software is as up to speed as the hardware. Find your own niche HTC I prefer your build quality to the plastic feel of others. I find the shiny back cover of my blue S3 incredibly irritating. Have no complaints about my One X!

                            Dear HTC,
In order to compete please lower the price of your smartphones. Google Nexus 7 has done it and it is selling like hotcakes. Price your smartphones higher than Huawei /
                            ZTE etc...but lower than Samsung,
LG, Motorola etc... Best of luck to HTC.

That's because HTC is rolling down hill. Back in the day when the TyTn was released, HTC was truly innovative! Now they have their flagship One X with no MicroSD slot and wifi problems. How can you compete with that crap?

I'm sad with them. Finally, they announced that would sell offially their products in Brazil, mas all of sudden fired everybody here and announced that would finish their participation in the country. It's ridiculous. That's why here we only hear people talking about Samsung, Samsung, Samsung, Galaxy, Galaxy, Galaxy.

A lot of error in strategy and marketing. Until now they never make even a decent tablet to sell in the market.

HTC main cause of failure is (i) failure to provide updates to ICS or Jelly Bean for its Android phones that have been released over the last 1 1/2 years (unlike Samsung!), and (ii) Continuing to launch WinMo phones given WinMo do not possess any significant market share. Come on HTC you cna do better - investing in software engineers who can help you resolving the software updates quickly.

Today Android is not like WinMO. HTC should let Sense go and gives AOSP experience.
