I was ready to potentially deal with iOS even though I have an ipad pro and just hate how you can't transfer freely files, how the low battery prompts just pop-up and freeze whatever you're doing (especially in multiplayer games) and tons of other stuff.

But no usb-c, still a huge notch with face unlock being completely useless in this pandemic, no high refresh rate and the EU pricing killed it for me. I'll wait to see reviews and the pricing on a contract, but right now I'm leaning more and more towards the xperia 5 II

Why not keeping the specs the same for both pro's. What a bummer.

Am I the only Android fan who is thinking, why Apple can deliver the features I would like to see? Except for the ultimately closed OS, which is the main problem of this phone, but besides... It is awsome Imo.

Does the iPhone 12 series have magnets in the actual body of the phone or is the Magsafe feature possible only with Apple accessories?

Checking coz one would need to be extra careful keeping the phone around credit cards if the phone has magnets in its body....

So an original lightning cable + charger cost like $40-50 depending on your location. A pair of earpods is 20 bucks too. And Apple usually sells circa 20 million new iphones per year.

So they spend few minutes on how they are saving the world by not including any accessories while in reality that's 1.2 billion dollars worth of accessories per year. That's ridiculous

Here's an example where Samsung's periscope camera produces a noticeable amount of blur without software https://fdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/reviews/20/samsung-galaxy-s20-ultra/review/bokeh/gsmarena_012.jpg

"There's another 'portrait' mode of sorts. That's simply using the photo mode at 4x zoom. The 103mm equivalent focal length is a close match for the 105mm lenses a lot of pros swear by for portraiture. On the Ultra, with proper spacing between subject and background, you can get some decently blurry backgrounds with perfect subject isolation - it's all optics and zero algorithms" and that's true https://m.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_s20_ultra_5g-review-2074p8.php

Point your phone to someone 4m away and take photo without using the portrait mode. There will be no blur around and behind the person.

The blur of portrait mode is 100% software on phones.
This is why is so poor quality.
With parts of the body cut by the blur.

Same for Sony 70mm. Zero blur without portrait mode.

Im very disappointed with this ..I think apple is staying in 2016 and all others company's moving forward to the future. At the end the large sales of iphones are from the US users because you know it's being patriot. But in the world the history is different.

Anonymous, 13 Oct 2020Small sensors cannot blur unless you do close ups. That... moreThat's wrong. The sensor has nothing to do with the blur. It is only caused by the lens. For a given field of view you need larger lenses for more blur. Taking a photo with a small sensor is physically exactly the same thing as using a software crop of a photo that was taken with a large sensor. When you combine a large lens with a small sensor, you will get the same background blur, actually the relative amount of blur will be even larger with the smaller sensor. Small sensors usually use lenses that have a smaller relationship of focal length and f number for a given field of view. That's why there is usually less background blur, though some smartphone periscope cameras have such a high relationship of focal length and f number that they can produce more blur (without software) than professional full frame f/4 ultra wide-angle lenses.

2 minute silence for people who though they were getting 5x optical zoom.
As predicted they get 2.5x zoom with 60hz display & 20W charging.
                                      Welcome to 2016 Apple!

Being pseudo dolby vision certified doesn't mean that the screen supports the actual Dolby Vision that is rated as superior in the link you posted. For that the iphone needs a 12-bit screen (I'm not sure whether the new pro models are 10bit, but none of the previous models have had a 10-bit screen) and 4000+ nits of brightness. In fact Dolby specifically lowered the specs requirements for Dolby Vision certification to cater to Apple's marketing ploys and that's why it suddenly became software-based even though everyone knows that a specific chip is required. So right now every company can just pay Dolby a licensing fee and turn their already existing screens to Dolby Vision screens.
