Fearghast, 14 Oct 2020Not including plastic waste Earpods is certainly a big plus... moreunfortunately, that 5g modem costs 100$ alone and apple had to cut so many things to match the previous year's iphones. In fact, I strongly believe that 5g modem will be cheaper next year and they will add 120hz display to justify it

It's so amazing to read all these comments by the Fandroids, because Samsung especially will follow this trend within 6 months. Then, it will be a great idea in the Fandroid eyes. I love you guys. You give me so much entertainment!

There are a lot of users that own a device with USB-C connectivity / charging (I myself own gamepad, old Meizu 2015 till my current phone has USB-C, headphones, laptop, tablets, sound card, Nintendo Switch, Shanling MP3 player etc.).

Imagine all devices that do not need a cable or charger shipped with a device (smartphones/tablets/wireless headphones etc.) ... would not contain a cable or a charger in the box - you don't need it you get minor price reduction, you need it? You just add it to your basket when you make an order.

Note that it's extremely simplified and does ignore things like quick charging standards, licence fees for some functionality, it even ignores low intelligence of some users that would fail to understand such a change etc.

Just imagine it ... it can be done, but the Apple way of space PR green is certainly not the way to make any difference + it's milking customers because the price remained the same ... even if you get less.

Older keitais (cellphones) in Japan used to ship with just the phone, battery, and sometimes the proprietary audio-3.5mm adapter cable, and sometimes the USB cable too. Chargers were always omitted, though regularly available to buy as separate accessories (including desktop charging docks). This was a thing since the late 90s (source - me, used to live in Japan).

Fast forward all those years and while welcome, this is a very late move from a major global tech company. USB chargers can be found aplenty now, and while most of the cheapo adapters are safety hazards, it is not hard to find genuine, reputable, and safe brands anywhere on the planet. Not to mention, smartphones have been a thing for over a decade now and the majority of people with a phone (at least, in countries where smartphones are regularly accessible by the public) should now have a USB charger of some sort in their homes.

If you're butt-hurt about the omission, shame on you. Grow a pair and understand it's not about just you. Get a separate charger if you really must. Otherwise, recycle and consider the e-waste that this move will save.

I have to say Apple got us on this one a 1499usd phone with headset or charger come on. The phone 12is a good phone very good as a phone but as an iPhone the other are way much better than the 12

Lol one day Apple will be selling the box only and you have to purchase the phone separately. Greedy MNC. It's okay you don't give earphones but come on, no chargers in the box?
Those who wouldn't bother purchasing the charger separately will just charge with any charger they have and you know the thing with third party chargers, it might not be exactly rated to match with the phone's charging input and might cause unwanted problems. Better idea would be to reduce plastic in the packaging like the wrappers etc. Make batteries removable so that users can hold onto their phones longer.
