Designing/building good sub 7nm systems is part experience, part skill, and still part luck, apple have just about got away with it this time, 5-6% improvement isn't too shabby, not amazing, but just about acceptable for apple.
As someone else pointed out, the way apple use memory makes their basic system fast, IF anyone ever bothered to spend the time to make android as efficient as apple, they would report figures 10-25% faster, with same hardware, but Google gave up on efficency at kitkat, easier just to throw more and more performance at android instead..
If huawei get it right with "harmony", it could turn out very fast in real world use,which is where it matters, scores help a bit, but very obvious blindingly fast performance changes folks mind wonderfully.
HTC HD2 (t mob version) 1.6 gb of quick ram, had plenty of ram left when cut back android rom installed, much, much faster than anything else you could buy, senior tech nerds at work saw how fast my HD2 was, they all very quickly got global firm to buy them at least one each !!

Almand, 15 Oct 2020There is no 64gb variant of iPhone this year that costs $1100.Well, that's because you probably don't know that iphones are the cheapest only in US/canada, everywhere else they are more expensive.
And you might want to check out the Indian pricing just to be sure, it's ludicrous, since L.O.R.D. must be referring to the same.
I couldn't care less since hardly anyone buys iphones here.

That GPU score is even lower than last year iPhone 11. Which of course is not true. People just need to calm down and wait real performance which of course will be really good. Just like Apple said in keynote A14 is generation ahead of competition. And we will seen it soon that it is.

What surprised me the most instead, was that according to this results, the iPhone 12 has only 4 GB of RAM, in 2020 ? My three year old android has more than that, and the 12 costs almost $1100 here, for just 64 GB storage. If this isn't overpriced, then I don't know what is

If you're going attach a cable to your phone, why don't you use the faster 20w charger via the lightning port instead of the gimmicky Magsafe. Even the Macbooks and iPad Pro charges through their USB-C ports.

Anwar, 15 Oct 2020Apple software optimization changes everything.. final thought...I'm still on iPhone XR and that thing with iOS 14 is faaaaast. That's still an old A12 Bionic. Tight software and hardware integration is certainly helping hugely. What helps Apple hugely on iPhones is use of NVMe standard for storage. It basically connects storage directly with chipset and does that at very high speeds. Common problem on most Android phones is use of crappy storage where even if you have super fast flagship chipset, it was always tripping over itself because of slow storage. iPhones never really had issue with that and that hugely helps the smooth experience we're so used on iPhones.
