Apple to introduce the first ARM-powered Macs on November 17

16 October 2020
The AirPods Studio, Apple's first over-ear headphones (not counting Beats models) will be the "one more thing" at that event.

This Apple product must not be hated. Why? Because this product try to kill duopoly between Microsoft and Intel. I hope it's works. Did you guys even tired with Microsoft Intel duopoly?

Apple has superior first party and 3rd party apps.

Even if Mac users are 8-10 percent of total laptop and Desktop markt, it's constantly being maintained throughout the decades.

Many professionals use Mac along with powerful Xeon Processors, A series is expected to replace Xeon processors.

It's not magic but Apple doubles Processor power every 3 years, Intel took 6 years to double the perfomance for desktop.

Are there even any games to take advantage of that Power? or a broad portfolio of applications as we se on Windows?

Apple can finally have its own native CPU after decades of using other companies' processors--Motorola and, later, Intel. Hope Apple can make the best of it.

This could be a game changer but not because of CPU instruction set.

The game changer here is an always online 5G laptop and being able to make and receive calls from the device. Seeing that ms keeps screwing this up on their surface line.

Chemist83, 17 Oct 2020Oh yeah, they are barely startingYes !
This year, in November will show how their macs will blow out of the water any Intel ultrabook, any 12" or 13 or even 14" laptops in terms of RAW cpu and igpu performance, in terms of HEAT (lets remember , under heavy load Intel chips runs between 88-100C, while the mac mini with A12Z runs in heavy load under 80C)....and lets not talk about battery life....like we all know heat is the batterys enemy
based on the A12z power use, IF apple just replaced the chip from the current macbook air with tha A12Z, that laptop will gain :
                      - over 35% better raw cpu performance and over 60% better gpu perfroamnce
                      - instead of 10-11 light usage battery life, you will get over 15hours
                      - instead of 3-4 heavy usage battery life, you will get over 8 hours under Rosetta2, and over 9-10 under nativ arm apps heavy usage
                      - a much colder device for our hands, the current Intel macbook air, or 13" Dell Xps under load the top keys are almost at 40-46C while on the MBA will be around 33C
-better facetime camera since the A silicon has performance camera cores

And again, thats ONLY if apple just replace the cpu

ARM is dropping 32 bit support in 2022 and RISC-V is modular ISA so it doesn't have historical baggage like 32 bit BC issues.

Europe has already started working in indigenous Hyperscale processors based on RISCV and so is entirety of China.

The world's fastest Supercomputer is a Japanese ARM based system.

After all who would want to be blocked by USA and it's embargo 😀😀.

So yeah the Dinosaur X86 is stuck with 32 bit support forever.

I still have some moths left from my 1 year with the dev kit mac mini....
but my god that A12Z under ROSETTA 2, so, under emulation is more powerful than any Intel ultrabooks that runs 5W 7W or 15W cpu
Not to mention the so called "iGpu"

And lets not forget that next year APple will bring the even more powerful silicon to run under bigger macs like the 27/32" imac, and for the 16" macbook pro...more room to breath. And also next year, based on the Big Sur arm code, apple will have at least 2 custom GPU

All of them are CISC. x86... moreBecause arm is the future...and big gaming companies are planing with at least 5 years ahead its future...and since there are already a lot of games on the app store that will run natively from day 1, the only games that remain will the the triple A
And what apple does with metal and sharing memory in their upcoming custom apple graphics...Jesus christ...the future is waaaaay better on arm...no more need that power to suck 300W from gpu only
I bet a lot of you in 2007 said iphone will have no future...like you are saying now that arm has no future...its clear you are not a developer
One build to support every OS, from iOs, to macOS, linux and win10 on arm...this is just beautiful
Microsoft is all about cloud services , since the new CEO...so , keep in mind that windows will slowly be dead, or not improved any more
So everyone will go for arm, has to, if they plan long future...or making games for console.but for profit is better to make a game for both consoles and arm platforms

Apple will blow the socks of all these X86 Intel and AMD Dinosaurs when a properly optimised ARM Mac App runs natively on Apple silicon.

We are yet to see a proper Desktop ARM that runs on more than 7.5W yet, while these Desktop Dinosaurs run in 105W+ and produce heat like Thermal power plants.
