But there's a serious point to all of this...
This year is all about quad core, just like last year was all about dual core... and in both years now Sony has failed to keep up with the competition... (last year single core, this year dual-core only)
Their flagship Xperia S this year? Removed micro-sd cards and came out with old software...
They need to catch up big-style to even be considered as a serious manufacturer. And I have an Xperia Play currently, just in case you were wondering on the phone I have...

It's time that sony makes better display panels than backlit LCDs atleast for their flagships.they certainly have the knowhow to do so.

Why oh why do they have to use LCDs that suck. It's Sony, they used to be great at display tech! Kind of ironic. Also, their "transitional phase" design team sucks big time. I thought that after the Xperia Arc it's only going to be better. Nope :-( Not a single stylish phone this year.

Ericsson is one of the biggest telecommunication company and have many patents. Period. Sony is not accomplished a half of what Ericsson has done in this industry. Ericsson dropped out of SE because it was obvious not profitable, not because they are small.
I will give you one example.
There is very few companies that are capable of designing and shipping their ARM chips worldwide.
Qualcomm - Snapdragon
Nvidia - Tegra
Samsung - Exynos
ST-Ericsson - Nova
Apple - Ax(some)
Yes, you heard that? It's Ericsson and they still make the most of chips for Sony mobiles. Sony is simply incapable of making those chips and have almost no telecommunications patents.
At the end of the day, the company that has telecommunication patents and can make their own chips will win this competition and that's why Apple goes crazy about buying some companies. It's purely about patents.
Anyone who has a slight insight in this industry knows that Sony is small company, regarding to this matter.

I'... moreAgreed. I like the looks of the S/P/U much more, but, whatever the looks, I'll get used to them on a phone I own. Features like the removable battery and Micro SD are always welcome no matter how long I them on a phone.
Apart from being a rather featureless (in terms of looks, not functionality) slab of plastic, I somewhat dislike the meager battery. I'd happily give up on the slim middle and have the phone in the same uniform thickness to accommodate a bigger battery.

Only if it comes out with quad-core Krait, Adreno 320 and more RAM, I would wait to buy this phone 100%. I knew that it won't happen whatever it's Sony or SE.
I'm quiet like aesthetics thing, that's why I will never buy SIII. But for Sony to release a dated-spec phones, I may have to go with Samsung.

The screen had very disappointing viewing angle, and not the brightest. The photo samples looked very good though :)
@CyprusYid: If this international version will be launched perhaps in October, I doubt that Sony will push another as early as January. Perhaps there will be a new one in March/April or so. Though the great thing is that this will probably drop significantly in price between it's release in Oct/Nov to when January comes around.

Now I'm really confused! I intend on buying a phone in January, but, I don't know what Sony model will be the top of the range. LS or LT29i? Or has Sony another coming out before the year's end?
