Sony Xperia shipments stabilize, but image sensor division slipped

During the three months ending on September 30, Sony shipped the same number as Xperias as it did during the same period last year.

It is much more convenient to Sony to sell for example 1 unit of 1ii than 3 units of 10ii.
They care about how much money per unit they can make.

    2) they will not put mmWave, only USA majority uses it. The rest of planet uses sub6. Xperia Pro has mmWave.

    3) it has 21W support. Turn off battery care modes and phone charges faster. With 18W, it has 50% in 30 min.

    4) those lower res modes are placebo. Phone does not turn off any pixel, just run apps at lower resolution, exactly what Xperia does since Z5 Premium.

      Is it both big camera and smartphone camera sensor, or do the article only talk about the big camera sensor here ?
      Because for the smartphone camera sensor, they literally made the best sensor ever, the IMX689, and had the stupid idea to make an exclusive deal with a brand, then they made another great one, the IMX700, that they also sold as an exclusive deal with another brand...
      Meanwhile Samsung developed equivalent but are available for everyone, they can't cry that they don't sell sensors after that, literally every premium and flagship smartphones would have use the IMX689 if it wasn't an exclusive to BBK...

      I mean, making a special version of this sensor for them, why not, but the way they did it is just plain stupid though.

        If Sony wants to kick tail for next year, there should be these things to focus on (besides Snapdragon 875 for obvious reasons):

        1. 5,000mAH battery minimum. If Pixel finally figured that a bigger battery is needed, Sony should too.

        2. Much more 5G bands (add 2, 5, 12, 25, 41, 66, 71, and 79 along with mmWave) and add 4G band 71 for God's sake.

        3. 25W wired charging to go fast but not too fast to preserve the lone battery.

        Throw in nitpicks for boomier speakers, allowing us to switch to 1080p@120hz with motion blur reduction alongside 1080p@60hz to save battery when needed and slightly clearer cameras and you got yourself the perfect smartphone for 2021.

          Glad to here some good news about the Xperia. Their mobiles from Xperia 1 onwards are actually decent and I know a couple of them. Actually using the Xperia 1 right now. As GSMArena mentioned, I hope it continues onwards and upwards for them.
