Google Pixel 5's SD765G chipset is a serious underperformer

There might be a very good reason behind this decision.

I am going back to the samsung next year if they manage to bring the best camera software ;)

        You guys hear that? That sound?

        That's the sound of warning bells that Google might be thinking about killing off yet another Google product.

        I got no words for this company. Their recent decisions, their objectives and their full 180 degrees on "don't be evil" really leaves me scratching my head on whether they are trying out a massive social experiment on how much BS people will tolerate instead of just running a damn tech company.

          Stondec100, 02 Nov 2020Stock Android is the least intuitive and most feature poor ... moreAre you sure about that? Have you had a Pixel as your daily driver? I've own both the original Pixel and Pixel 3. I recently bought the Samsung Galaxy S20 and although it's a great device the software drives me crazy. I miss my Pixel so much. I never realized an amazing camera and software experience is all I needed. Looking forward to eventually going back to Pixel when I get a chance.

            So they go with midrange chipset this year and still downclock it?

              The bigger fool is buying a Pixel for performance. Pixels have not and never will be for performance. Those phones are only for people who don't want a bloated UI/bundle of useless apps and just want to use their phone to web browse, watch videos, make phone calls, send text messages/e-mailed, play a minor game or two, and take a number of pictures. That's it.

              I don't care for Pixel and definitely believe the 5 is priced too high (but I do like the 4a 5G), but get a grip to the comment section. There are TONS more flagships out there. Go after those.

                  Google's own page https://store.google.com/gb/product/pixel_5_specs?gclsrc=aw.ds&&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxeDb-vDk7AIVh63tCh1mPw88EAAYASABEgJPePD_BwE

                  says 765G at 2.4MHz ie normal 765G specs.

                    That's kind of attitude is exactly why I hate Apple, Samsung, Google and OnePlus.
                    It look like they can't make any business decision without finding a way to include anti-consumer practices...

                        Google has started fleecing customers just like Apple. $700 and you get this garbage damn

                          Then you are slow irl.! It's a pixel. Always slow. Sadly it changed after they switched from nexus to pixel. As nexus, there were ahead. As pixel, they are always behind.

                              For most people buying the Pixel 5, from the reviews I seen on YouTube, no one has said can't keep up with gaming, so does it matter? If Pixel decided that with the chipset it gives best balance and battery performance that makes sense. If you paid £1k for a mobile then yes I'd want best of everything. Apple note.. high screen refresh rate and a fast charger included in the bundle. For me the best balance prob 4a5g. Also as there as so few 5G spots I'd wait. On 4g while in Sale, England and Media City I can get download speeds 80+ Currently in

                                It's weird to switch to a "slower" device that simply works when I need it.

                                  It's weird that they would downclock a midrange chipset.

                                      I have a Pixel 4a and its processing time is totally acceptable at less than a second. I have to imagine that the Pixel 5 exceeds that.
