A new Redmi Note 9 with 120Hz display and adaptive refresh rate is coming

04 November 2020
Likely the same handset that's rumored to have a 108MP camera.

Sort by:

A Budget 200 Euro Android series like the Redmi Note coming with bigger battery & faster Charging, thrice the camera sensor in size, 120hz display.
Let that sink in!
And the latest iPhone lacks all of the above.

And the next generation of smartphone will be foldable displays or rollable displays that's another point way LCD will be used less and less in the future.
You can even now buy a transparent OLED TV (Xiaomi LUX).
And Samsung and LG are also using different OLED technologies. But not sure why Samsung makes only smartphone OLED displays and LG only TV OLED displays.

Not sure what samsung used in their cheap phones, but we all know that the Samsung S series got praised for their excellent picture quality. Also the best Gaming TV is a OLED.

IpsDisplay, 04 Nov 2020Here is an LCD with always on display: https://m.gsmaren... moreFor Always on Display on an LCD you need to turn on the backlight. In OLED you can only turn on one pixel.

            Every display has its use.

In a car multimedia disply for example, you don't see OLED too often, do you? That is because of burn-in and degradation over time - especially in the sun. Car manufacturers want a reliable display, and so they go for LCD.

Also there is the issue of price. OLED's are more expensive so LCD is what you will see most often in a budget phone currently.

That said, punch-hole displays look better with OLED. Also I like the OLED in my wearable Miband. The extra blackness makes it way cooler to wear, so definitely OLED for wearables, also because HRR isn't usually a priority for a smart band anyway. In fact, low refresh rates that extend battery life are more practical in that scenario.

            The list goes on...

            Every tech has it's place.

Nick WHO, 04 Nov 2020Some is not all, and it's a good option to have. And ... moreNonsensical comment. LCD panels will stay forever. They don't experience burn-in, and I'll comment after you, actually, not everyone needs an OLED display. I used the crappy A51, everything looked artificial and washed out. OLED should have given me excellent battery life but I returned to LCD because it is a much more refined product with years and years of R&D.

And only an OLED can be used for "Always on Display" and has also better quality and on top of that it has a lot faster response time.
LCD is technology from the past, OLED is the future.

Why still use note 9 names? Its already exist right? Are they successor and should call note 10?
