These two failed to get the hype train rolling, unlike the company's flagships. The N100 did especially poorly, the N10 has a glimmer of hope.

A 6.5" or 6.8" is a lot bigger in your hand than a 5.4".

Actually Apple in this specific matter is doing what customers want, not the other way around. They know there's a lot of people demanding for smaller phones. Android authority did a poll vote In June where 21% said they want smaller but powerful compact phones. That is a considerable number. And if Android doesn't move to fulfil that niche, Apple will...as they are.

The majority want bigger phones but there's still a considerable number of people who wants a small powerful phone. I am one of those. Give me a 5.5" 1080p oled 120Hz with a snapdragon 865, 8gb ram, 256 storage, 4000mAh batt and i'll buy it right away! It's more convenient to put in your pocket and use with one hand too.

I don't play games in my phone, it's bad for the eyes. I play either on my 10" tablet or my pc.

      And maybe Apple make tiny and bigger phones, because they always do what they want to do, without listening to customers...

      Could be the other way around.

      So many people nowadays play games and stream movies/series and lots of other stuff on their phones, that's absolutely more fun with 6,67 inch +, vs a 5,4 inch.

      Many people all over the world prefer a bigger phone they can use for several things instead of having a tablet and or a laptop to.

Once they increased their prices to compete in the flagship territory, thet lost their flagship-killer title. That wasn't enough, they wanted to to Hogg the mid range market also. Too bad their greed is reflecting on their products. They can't go low. In terms of pricing and can't offer more either. Good for customers there're plenty alternatives out there ane they don't really care.

              iPhone SE is selling 15million units this year and iPhone 12 mini is gonna be a success too.
              Why can't Android manufactures give compact premium phones...? Apart from Apple?
              There's clearly a market for it, as we see people demanding it!
              They'd make big phones for people who want it and compact phones also, what is the problem? Everyone would be happy...
              If Apple can put good specs in a compact iPhone, so can Android brands. Why they're not doing it?

                For me the ideal would be :
                1) A big display, 6,5" minimum, gimme a 7" and I'll be happy as I have trouble with small tactile keyboard, even in landscape mode.

                2) Oled and other superior variant (Amoled, Super Amoled, etc) but regardless, I do demand Always On Display, I can live with 60Hz, but ideally gimme that amazing GIMOD as it is the best display type, can't wait to see it on Smartphones.

                3) For the camera, give me a good main camera, regardless the resolution as long as it is over 12Mp, so same as Sony would be more than enough, but an equivalent of the IMX689 would be perfect.
                Regardless, give me that 3840fps amazing slomo that Huawei have, and put a good OiS.

                4) For other camera, well either and ideally combine all main smartphones camera types like with my design : https://imgur.com/gallery/tIXYDCW which is an extended zoom (from ultrawide to telephoto) with Macro and Portrait capabilities on a single sensor.
                Or a 12Mp + periscope telephoto with 5x magnification or more.

                5) Either combine the Macro and Portrait with the Periscope Telephoto (meaning it will have a really short focus distance and variable depth of field from deep to shallow capability), or if they are independent at least 8Mp for the Macro but 12Mp being better, and 12Mp for the Portrait, both Macro and Portrait with at least 2x optical magnification capabilities.

                6) A good, high resolution depth sensor, in fact, give me two depth sensor combining a dynamic scanning Structured Light and Phase Detection ToF combined with an ultrafast focusing depth camera that will work like a Range Gated depth Imager but with a super shallow depth of field and phase detection to gather 3D and color depth, all that with a dedicated chip including its neural network for depth data computation.

                7) If there is an Ultra-Wide, that it is at least 12Mp though I consider that with a 12Mp (post binning) standard/wide, the Ultra-Wide should be 16Mp minimum.

                8) No constantly looking front camera, so either a pop up, a flip up, a good slider implementation, or any no front camera solution from secondary display on the back or external accessories.
                But what I really want, is regardless what it have, to come with real and proper 3D facial recognition, this mean a true Structured Light and not a ToF, even better, use two IR camera for triangulation of the Structured Light that himself is a dynamic pattern scanning one, combined with an UV camera + LED and the RGB camera, all that through, here too, a dedicated chip for the depth data.

                9) Ultrasonic underdisplay FPS being the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max or any better one, that isn't dumbed down or limited and is able to read flesh density, veins patterns and all that goodness.
                Combined with a dedicated security chip that can work with partial data and give a security score rather than requiring full face or stuff like that, and which is able to perfect advanced checks like avoiding the "Face unlock and run" thief, allow combinaison of security (biometric or not) methods and protect the bootlaoder and prevent from formatting the phone.

                10) As long as it is as fast or faster than my OnePlus 6t SD845 and that it is modern enough, I would like the best in term of AI and computational photography (no point wanting the best sensors if the software or the hardware it run on is bad), so SD855, 865, 875, Bionic A13 or A14 (Yeah, I know, won't happen on an Android phone anytime soon) or anything else like Huawei's Kirim, Mediatek, even Exynos, as long as it is good in the other things than raw power (which all latest one beat the SD845 now anyway), I don't care about the model/brand.

                11) MicroSD card is great, but independent MicroSD card is better, I like to have the option if I need to increase my storage or want to transfert without having a computer available, but I don't want to sacrifice one of my two SIM for that, and if it have hot SD card swap capabilities (thanks to using a different slot) it is even better.

                12) 3.5mm Jack, port or magnetic connector, though I would prefer magnetic connector, both both the Jack and the USB-C, both connector combined would take less space than the USB or Jack alone and have tons of benefits even if it require special cables or the use of a magnetic adapter.

                13) Same for the 5Ah battery, if there is fast charging, I'd like it to be optional and come with smart healthy charging options, like slow charging to storage percentage and steady charging before the alarm/usual activity/unplug time, possibility to slow charge, etc.

                14) FLAT DISPLAY, this isn't up for debate, MY ideal Android phone won't have curved edge display, in fact I would prefer independent side displays over buttons, like this :

                But I prefer buttons over the curved horror.

                But I know this is MY ideal and that it wouldn't fit with everyone, also it would be expensive, but I'd sell my kidney to buy that monster.
                That's why diversity is important, some will prefer LCD, other will prefer a single decent main camera, other will prefer curved edge, other will prefer stereo speakers, many will prefer smaller phones, some prefer thicker while other prefer thinner phones, and trying to make a single phone design will at the end cause the majority to be always left with something missing or unwanted features.

Bottom line is that many people are now using phone for work, media consumption, social media, shopping and browsing generally. Phones are now being used instead of laptops, PC's, tablets and even smart TV. This is just the modern world we live in. The 5.5" or even 6" screen size is really not sufficient for most. The manufacturers are just following the trend and the demand from the masses. Yes people do want compact phones too but clearly not enough. Smartphone manufacturers don't really think that they'll see the return on investment and sufficient demand. Samsung didn't abandon the mini version of the S series after the S4 mini for no reason. They weren't selling enough.

                      Owning the original Nord, i wish OnePlus baked it a little more, removed the useless 2mp camera and added the good stuff from the N10 instead.. Now they need to fix issues not with two new devices (8T and Nord) but four.. which will not end well for a small company.. sad don't want to see them go htc on us fans.

                        Are we ever going to se not flag ship new compact phones??
                        I wanna something pixel 5 /samsung s10 size..

                                    No 44 mp selfie , it can range between 12 to 32 enough

                                    and no secondary selfie one is ideal

                                    Min 5000 mah battery with atleast 25+ charger in the box
