Revonox, 19 Nov 2020These are common OLED issues. This has nothing to do with a... moreIt's not normal if there is a problem. This just proves how careless these manufacturers are when it comes to checking the quality of each of their products.
Sony has just started using OLED panels on their phones for 2 years, and none had problematic issues like this. Heck, even on their first attempt on OLED, they've nearly beaten Samsung in overall quality assessment.
If an unpopular smartphone manufacturer like Sony can do it, then there's absolutely no excuse for a very popular multi-trillion company when it comes to things like this.

IpsDisplay, 20 Nov 2020Oled will never overcome these inherent problems SmhYeah. Unfortunately though there are very few choices left for flagships or upper mid range phones with Lcds. I currently want to switch back to LCD from Oled but the only reasonable 5g capable options I can find on the Chinese market in the upper mid range are the Redmi k30s or Honor V30 pro, both of which are out of stock

Common issue that can happen even on LG's OLED TVs. This is an OLED problem, not just an issue caused by OLED manufacturer.

No problem here in Taiwan.
The big amount of the units effected seems like European version.
I am sure there will be a lawsuit for that !

About the problem: This is a hardware problem probably related to the integrated circuit voltage controller. Some pixels behave abnormally under low voltage conditions when the brightness is lowered. This malfunction can lead to premature death of these pixels and compromise of the screen in the long term, especially after the warranty period. The only solution is to change the screen, but there's no use if Samsung doesn't fix the problem.

It is a chronic problem with Samsung screens and the worst is that the company simply does not speak up or takes a position on the problem to offer users adequate support especially after the warranty runs out.

Samsung panels, pretty much expected.
Like everything, apple needs to start manufacturing their own panels if they want the job done right.

You mean to say it’s okay for iPhones to have this issues just because some Samsung devices have it too?

It's normal oled problems, it has nothing to do with the company behind the screen, these are custom displays made specifically for the iphone with strict specifications. And yes some of these issues could be solved via software updates.
