AlexP, 20 Nov 2020I have oneplus 8 pro and no display issues"Some iphone 12 units". So, not all iphone 12 units have this problem.
And yes, some One Plus 8 pro units had similar problems. Also, other manufacturers like Samsung had similar problems in the past.
The bigger problem is paying a flagship price and having this problems. That's why I always said flagship phones are useless nowadays. But then again, everybody do what they want with their money.

For people commenting that Apple users are not complaining about this issue, please check the iphone subreddit. There are many threads where people have reported this issue and there has been a lots of discussion about it in last few days.

This is obviously not a software issue. My phone has samsung's amoled panel and started having the tint issue only to notice that it wasn't an issue of updating. TLDR, my screen died.

Also, overall Apple QC apparently failing these days if the number of reported issues have been any indication

They made big issue with OnePlus Pro screen having similar issue.....but for Apple after paying anywhere between $1000 (cheapest 12 series with respectable storage) -$2200 now languishing in display issues but no big noise from the consumers forums.

Dometalican, 20 Nov 2020Isn't that weird considering Sony uses Samsung panels ... moreIt's nothing really weird. Sony just really understands OLED technology very well. They pioneered this display type after all. Trusting Samsung's OLED panels means they believe that Samsung makes high-quality displays, but the execution needs to be correct for it to work, and that's what Sony does better than the rest of these manufacturers. They won't win the best display of the year award or whatsoever, but when it comes to longevity and consistency, they will always secure the top spot.

The high possibility of premature pixel death remains, making the screen unfeasible in a long term.

A software update will simply prevent the display from going to extremely low levels of brightness (levels below which issue is present)

There are 2 suppliers for the panels of iPhone 12 - Apple & Samsung.
For Each supplier, there are two grades of panel: Good & Bad.
In terms of panel quality and likelihood for not have a green tint:
Samsung Good > LG Good > Samsung Bad > LG Bad.
Detailed grading of different panels:
Prefix G9N: Samsung Good Grade panel (Very low chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix G9P: Samsung Poor Grade Panel (Moderate chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix GVC: LG Good Grade Panel (Moderate chance of being a bad panel).
Prefix GH: LG Poor Grade Panel (High chance of being a bad panel).

Still hoping Sony moves to Sharp IGZO panels. Sharp not making much for manufacturers would give them an edge as well as the fact that they reside in the same country.
