Android Authority, 23 Nov 2020How can you call it a gimmick when it's not even launc... moreRollable and foldable displays seems to be good direction where the devices are headed. Durability is not a major concern as the materials used for and over the display will keep on improving.
Software, mainly apps, seems to be the major bottleneck. In current scenario, so many apps have broken interfaces due to different aspect ratios. This happens both in Android and iOS (Only two but still breaks, three if including iPads).
It will be worse on rollables as the apps can be launched in any aspect ratio. We will need a new freeform design for apps for these new generation of devices.

BiyoBiyo JunJun, 23 Nov 2020but... in the internet we should hate each other ...Haha true.
You can't imagine how many peoples justify the removal of the 3.5mm Jack because "I dOn'T lIkE wIrEs" as if having the Jack port would force him to use wires.
And so many peoples fight against any idea that are remotely different from their favorite features, because they think all smartphones of the whole market should have those features...
You dare to say (politely or not) you would like something else, it become a hate fest... 🤣

But why? Why do people insist on large phones? They are clunky, prone to drops, worse battery life, difficult to store in pocket. I've used big phones before and when I switched back to a small one, it was a breath of fresh air.

Shiny Dave, 22 Nov 2020I also have - or at least had - coordination difficulty wit... moreI don't understand how I always miss the keys, in my computer keyboard I am not bad at all, with any mouse based precision I am quite good, in fact I made some really good score on online FPS games, such as Battlefield 3 and 4 despite having a huge bullet spraying issue that was, probably because of my bad internet at the time, worse than on other persons...
Same with firearms for the few occasions I had, I was really good, even the fairground's shooting gallery, in France we have a "cage" where they put 3 balloon, and there is a fan underneath so they are moving, I still managed often to explode the 3 in a single shot.
I often did electronic soldering, and repairing things with tiny screw, or even worse with tiny springs.
But smartphone keyboards...I SO OFTEN hit the wrong letter, it is so frustrating, in fact even with my two 7" Logicom m bot tab 71 tablets that I use for special purposes, and this is 7" DISPLAY, not body !
For both I removed the front camera, the microphone, the antenna and the battery, no problems it was an easy job, but to write on them, the absolute horror...
Whyyyyyyyy ? 🤣

Dometalican, 22 Nov 2020You and me both. HTC could sell a reissue of the HTC One Ma... moreCount me in. For me, 16:9 is the perfect balance for both portrait and landscape usage. Some may argue that 20:9 or 21:9 cinema content is the best aspect ratio, but it's a niche content even today. So until all consumer products (phones, dslr/mirrorless camera, video recorder, camera drone, tv, pc monitor, laptop, digital frame, etc) manufacturers agree & decide to completely shifting to other ratio, they should stick to 16:9.

It Just shows that you have poor polling skils. 5.9-6.5 is a margin to big to indicate anything.

I can easily run two different apps together at the same time knowing that there will be nothing to interfere between them. Being detachable means that I can easily take it out and leave it in my bag when I don't need it.

Buko Balamata, 22 Nov 2020The best size these days is the smallest you can find...Unarguably correct statement. Small size flagship phones (below 145 mm height) are difficult to find these days.

there are a lot of things that phones now can do efficiently...
larger screens for content creation and consumption, office productivity apps, browsing a desktop version of websites to enjoy the full blown version, multitasking via multiwindow or splitscreen... but at the same time, it is nicer to have a phone that is good on hand...
and yes, i agree with the idea that larger phones become acceptable due to less bezel (but for me, not too less to introduce handling difficulty) and longer aspect ratio as it still provides good handling...
i cant believe that my 6.5inch xperia 1 ii is handfriendly than my 6inch fonepad note...

You won't have people fighting for ideal screen size anymore.
Display size wouldn't remain static on the spec sheet.
It will have a range like a zoom lens.
