There ISN'T any "ideal" size... moreI also have - or at least had - coordination difficulty with small touchscreens generally. The 3.5" iPhone was genuinely unusable for me from display model testing, and I'd have bought a Symbian keyboard phone (in 2010!) if it wasn't for the Dell Streak coming out. The one other person I knew with one of those had particularly big hands.
Conversely I know two friends who have particularly small hands and one of those became an Xperia Compact die-hard very quickly. She's completely out of the Apple ecosystem and that's literally the only thing standing in the way of her getting an iPhone 12 mini, and

Just need a size that is comfortable tp use/hold. Most people thought about 5.2" as perfect size, now the smartphones have become bezel less, about 6" display size fits in the same footprint so the physical phone size preference has not changed.

Hating on big ph... more7 inch mobiles are ideal form factor for avoiding two devices, a small mobile and a larger iPad/tablet instead can have single large screen mobile and good for many things with larger battery, Expandable storage options, camera areay. Those who opt for smaller devices typically own a device for each form factor which is insane!

Momos, 22 Nov 2020Funny to see all these 40+ year old ppl... Hating on big ph... moreI am 20 and hate don't like big phones, as well as most of my friends (17-25). We just want to use our phones with one hand, which is waaaaaaay harder with a bigger phone. Some of them are complaining my phone is too big, and mine is 6.1 inch woth a chin (LG G7). Bought a Samsung Galaxy A71 (6.7 inch I think), but still use my G7 for most of the things because I like the size better 😂. The A71 I use for reading articles most of the time now, but I switched to a plastic back phone (I broke my glass back and was alsways afraid to break it) amd couldn't really find other alternatives in the price range with a headphone jack, nice software and long support. My all tome fave is the SG s4 mini, the size was perfect for me. And I don't even have really small hands, but I just can't use the big phones without dropping them all the time

This poll is misleading.
The current screen sizes have taller aspect ratios. That means although their screen size is larger, the width is not, and they actually are not that larger when viewing 16:9 videos.
Eg. iPhone 12 mini has larger screen size than iPhone SE 2020, but it's smaller in size.
So the illusion of people liking larger screen now than before can be misleading, as phones might have had smaller screens, but with bezels. It's better to run a poll based on the phone size instead (eg. width of the phone). That translate better to comfort and usability. Screen size is no longer a consistent measure as each OEM can have differing aspect ratios.

Maybe it's because of OneUI where most of the stuff that I need to interact usually always stays at the bottom and I'm really enjoying the huge screen.

Using big screen ain't a problem for me.
But carrying the phone in the pocket is a pain in the a$$.

6.6 is best... Many of things can be done one handedly and for other you can lift second.. unless someone is lazy potato

Like I said ideal screen size changes based on aspect ratio the taller the ratio the better you can handle a larger display

YUKI93, 22 Nov 2020That is why I still prefer the so-called 'outdated... moreYou and me both. HTC could sell a reissue of the HTC One Max (close to 6" on the 16:9 ratio) and, as long as the specs are great, I'm driving in on it. This is coming from a guy currently using an LG V20.
I'd be alright with 21:9 ratio though considering content is starting to emerge in that ratio but anything in between is a no-no from me.

As a average southeast asia adult, im unable to use a 6+ inch with one hand, things get very frustrated when i need to touch something on the other half of the screen, even when typing! Ended up return the Realme 6 pro after 1 month of frustrating and go for a used Sony from 2017 with 5 inch. What a ridiculous trend.

If we group up the views, less than 6" is close to some 55% and rest is 6" and above.
In a way it's more like equally divided.
However, I feel rather than size of screen it the size of phone which should be rated . A phone with a smaller foot print but with better screen size makes more sense than having a huge phone just to have a huge screen.
End of the day it depends on how smart a user makes an efficient utilisation of the available screen. Big screen doesn't mean it's efficient.

Screen size is relative when you measure diagonally. The average phone didn't get a much bigger surface area and especially not wider, they mostly got taller.

God damn it...
There ISN'T any "ideal" size, feature, thickness, battery capacity, SoC power, OS or anything.
It is ALL individual preferences.
I personally love the biggest display possible for the ONLY reason that I have trouble hitting letters right on smartphone virtual keyboard, and I perfectly understand the appeal for ultra small smartphones.
Saying there is an "ideal" is how you keep the market being stupidly exempt of any diversity, even the "most favorite" doesn't mean anything, there are still millions who want something different.
In something like Smartphones, the only ideal is to have diversity so everyone have a chance at getting exactly what he want.
The only features/characteristics that should be almost universal are non intrusive ones, like the 3.5mm Jack that one can perfectly live without using it and it won't ever legitimately cause any issues, the opposite are display cutouts (punch holes and notches) and curved edge display who regardless if you like it or not, can't just be "disabled" or "ignored", if you don't want it, you still have to deal with it.
