The brand started life under the Xiaomi umbrella but struck out on its own this January.

It's not about financial independence, let's take OnePlus as an example, they used to be completely different from they're mother Oppo. Poco on the other hand is 100% a Xiaomi copycat, only with a different name.

    I was hopping for a Poco F3 Pro that would be a more modern and upgraded variant of the F2 with his pop up and great camera setup for a low price...

              Who are the lying to? Poco is just as independent as Redmi is, if not less. After all, all Xiaomi brands use the same skin.
