03 December 2020
The agency deemed the charger an essential part of the iPhone’s use and will require new iPhones to come with the adapter.

Apple's green shield defense is BS. Of course they're saving the environment by not including chargers--hey guess what would save the environment even more? NOT SELLING PHONES! But that's the cost of doing business. Imagine if this sets a precedent for other companies (like Apple usually does) to not include vital elements of their products so that they can charge you more when you need them later. For example, selling a car for $1,000 less, but not including the key to its transmission--which costs another $5,000.

Answer to the question in the article: it’s just PR mumbo-jumbo. They are running out of ways to satisfy their shareholders’ obsessive greed for money, so they just make every new customer pay extra for something which is crucial in using the device (you can’t use it if it has no power).

If Apple realy cared about the environment. They would have shipped type A to lightning cable in the box. Not type C to lightning cable. This shows that Apple just want to get money from the consumers. Dosent care about environment

apple's move is valid but when considering the other way around it sticks out oddly. If what apple claiming is the main reason this could've done long way back the road.

Apple has: no chargers recycling program, no warranty coverage of non-Apple chargers damage. They are just increasing their profit margins on the backs of people, that's all.

Why don't more governments take actions? Why are you iPhone users quiet? I mean it's easy for everyone to pool in thir opinion here, but that changes what? I have a macbook pro 16" but I bought the z fold 2 as my main phone ( indian iPhone pricing is a different story). But denying me the continuous use of my own phone by not including a charger should be illegal as per consumer law, crippling the use intentionally sighting environmental benefits.. bhaaa the number of usb c adapters I have for mac tells a different intend by apple. Also here is my other argument, only iPhone 11 Pro users have a USB c port on the charger as you all know by now, even so, how does apple expect people to retain it? If I have to have the charger from my old iPhone 11 pro that means I didn't sell it along with the phone and its original box content, hence taking a hit on the selling price. Or I should be okay having both phones or BUY a new charger from apple? How is "people already have chargers lying around at home" a USEFUL point? My next argument is, let's see, I have my wife's samsung s series charger which has a usb c port. Lets say we share it to charge our respective phones (inconvenient? I bet) but will apple honor its warranty if something were to happen by using 3rd party chargers? If not, that means they intend you to use an MFI certified charger, correct? How many of you realistically have them with usb c port? So they are asking you to buy them NOW!! This leads to my last argument, ok I now let's accept that they want you to buy a MFI charger (with its box, plastics and transportation negating the core argument apple has put forth, "Saving environment"), but they have not reduced the prices of the iPhone to accommodate that omission. In fact in india the prices have gone up (yes taxes have also risen but the phone prices without the taxes have not dropped).
Apple is a company who do not innovate every new tech but they make the tech popular and usually implement them the right way BUT this is not the right way. Removing headphones jack didn't bother me as I could use the included headphones which had the lightning head at the end, IT WAS COMPATIBLE with the original equipment I was buying but this time its different, Its a basic requirement for a consumer electronics equipment to function. I hope with global pollution levels rising, one day a company like apple doesn't start charging for oxygen, the basic charger for humans.

Android Authority, 03 Dec 20202.5B in 2019. Now it has gone above 3 billion. Soooo impressive - an operating system that you can buy hardware starting at $100 or so, compared to Apple's starting price of +USD$500 brand new - and you think you're making a point? It is infinitely more impressive for Apple to have such a large share compared to Android. You know that. Every Android shill here knows that.

It's not like the entirety of their shopfronts is run off 100% RENEWABLE ENERGY. It's not like they reduced their shipping footprints by a half by halving the iPhone box. It's not like Apple is COMPLETELY CARBON NEUTRAL. It's not like every device will be manufactured in a completely carbon neutral way by 2030. It's not like they are constantly investing in prioritising the ability to use recycled materials for the 14 most important materials they use. It's not like 100% of the wood fibres in the paper Apple users and the packaging comes from recycled and responsible sources.

Oh! Bugger! That's all completely true. And way more - you gonna wipe that egg off your face?

lol my word you lads just keep failing at the same point, don't you? DING DONG, YOUR OPINION'S WRONG. Majority of iPhone 12 purchasers ARE ALREADY AN iPHONE USER. Guess what? THEY ALREADY HAVE A LIGHTNING CABLE+CHARGER. If there was a charger in the box, what would I do with my other 5 chargers?! Ask yourself - how many chargers do you have for your current phone? One? Do you throw it away when you buy a new phone?

If you're coming from Android, don't you already have a USB-C Charger? I thought this was the gold standard that y'all keep bleating on about? I thought they were universally used, and Apple were being left in the dark? Which one is it?

"And if guys buy 3rd party charger, they won't provide warranty."

I mean, there's no way they would even bother trying to prove this. But I guess you'll keep spewing whatever bullspit facts Android babies repeat, huh.

"Smaller box can create less waste. But having one box for two things ( bigger even) is always better than two separate boxes for things."

See my aforementioned comment regarding how literally EVERY iPhone user currently has a charger and cable that works from every previous generation of iPhone after the iPhone 4. Apple have HALVED their footprint of shipping for this year. HALVED. Do you know how many iPhones they're projected to sell, wordlwide? This is a freaking MAMMOTH carbon footprint that has been halved. Your tiny little Apple-hating brains can't even fathom it.

Apples big fail. Old Apple users will not have a USB-C charger. Old Android users may not have a USB-C charger. So what is their intended market? They should have remained using a standard USB to lightning cable to maintain their stand.

Apple: "we didnt include charger because we care about the environment"
