Brazilian pro-consumer agency doesn’t buy Apple’s reason for removing chargers

The agency deemed the charger an essential part of the iPhone’s use and will require new iPhones to come with the adapter.

If Apple really care about carbon emissions, they should make their iPhone with usb-c port but they didn't! They just removed the charger and the earphone to make more $$$£££€€€

    Apple won't include chargers and also it won't provide warranty if the phones were damaged by third party chargers . This should be opposed.then no point in speaking about eco-friendly when there is no warranty for device at consumer end and consumer is the one who is facing loss.

      Sadly, it doesn't matter. In the end people all over the world will still buy them, even though they will remove this and that.
      And that gets power and money to these companies.
      These are mind tricks at their best. Making people think they actually spending their money in a good and effective way, when in reality they don't. And companies like Apple or Samsung are kings in this regard.

        Far be it for me to defend Apple in some capacity, but in some respects, I do agree with trying to cut down on electrical waste. I am sure we all have multiple chargers in our homes from phones we have bought in the future. However, I believe to look fully committed to less electrical waste, they could have easily offered customers to trade an old official apple plug into an apple shop or online to let them recycle it and offer the better plug at a discount (obviously there will be a charge, Apple don't do free).

          Why are we just talking about the 12? All iPhones sold now don’t come with chargers, even the oldest ones as the XR

            Apple true intentions were for people to buy their own brick that support these phones. More money to Apple.

              Good move by the agency. No sane person believes in Apple's BS.

              These anti-consumer moves need to be criticized by everyone. Don't let these greedy corporations get away with their cons.

                I guess Brazil is not afraid, like the rest of the world. Everyone should follow this example, so we can prove to big companies like Apple that they are not the ones with the power, we the consumers should have the power. Don't buy phones with no chargers people.

                  Even dirt cheap android phones come with charger. And iPhone isn't the fastest anymore. Many android flagships can beat any iPhone easily. YouTube is your friend go and watch speed test yourself.

                    Their logic is flawed.

                    Till 11 apple gave USB A chargers. Now they are giving type C.
                    That would make everyone buying a new charger.
                    And if guys buy 3rd party charger, they won't provide warranty.

                    Smaller box can create less waste. But having one box for two things ( bigger even) is always better than two separate boxes for things.

                    Old charger were 5-10watts. If anyone buys a new, they would definitely buy a fast charger. Now fast charging is good but bad for battery life. Considering that IPhone users use one for 4 yrs, that will create more waste.

                    This is all just to create a Fake goodwill and make more money indirectly.
                    Look how much they made profit from removing headphone jack. Billions.

                        So much talk and literally NOTHING will change. At worst, nothing will change at all. At best, Brazilian users will get a 5W charger "for free" with latets iPhone. Just like France made Apple supply basic earphones with the phone. Or was it Samsung. Not sure anymore...

                          Apple removed the charger head but on the other hand developed the Magsafe which requires a charger head. The reason Apple is doing this, it's not for anyone but itself. the real reason in my opinion is to remove the charging socket in the near future.

                                Samsung offer trade in discounts for old phones. Apple can do the same with chargers

                                      Best legal way of not having a warranty covered... Awesome. Just make sure you don't sell the charger. When something goes wrong. It's all your fault because you used a charger not accompanied by the iPhone 12 series in its original format. Therefore... By using a charger not issued in the box at the time of purchase renders your warranty useless because you have bought an after market charger. Even if it was made by Apple. Wish Apple heads would wake up to how far behind Apple is... And by the way... The 888 Snapdragon... Is going to eat the A14 for breakfast.

                                        If they fail to provide charger they shouldn't be fined they should be banned from selling their products completely. So non sense will quickly become perfect sense.
