But Samsung needs to solve a big problem first.

AnonD-940827, 05 Dec 2020Still won't be better than any 20MP camera, because of... more??? You are aware that a 600 megapixel sensor with 0.8 micrometer pixel pitch is larger than Aps-c? That's also why the lens would be so big.
Already nowadays the lens of the Xiaomi Note 10 captures approximately as much light per time as Canon Aps-c + wide angle kit lens. This camera would surely capture even more light per time.

    Where are you Sony😂😂

      Good Idea with solutions.

      Something like Sony's QX-100.

Something like Rubin's Observatory 3.2GP multi mosaic module.

In my view, it is applicable if samsung use periscope like tunnel inside the body itself and make it a bit thicker between 10 to 12 mm.

4 X 150MP Multiple Bayer sensor in 4 side and a optical hub which absorb light from the outer lens and pass them through the pipeline to the dedicated quad prism to seperate data using AI.

It is applicable even by current tech.

There is also another way to do so.

use quad square shaped sensors at the center of the phone and use 2 separate battery to make the enough space available. with a bit little thicker hump.

As in the graphs, a fixed sensor with 600MP, in my opinion can be achieved by using module with magnetic attachment.

In any case it is a good idea to challenge our information, calculation and analyze situation.

Still won't be better than any 20MP camera, because of the tiny sensor and cheap optics.

Give me a really powerful and rocket fast smartphone with big battery and amazing screen plus stereo sound but without any camera. Never gonna happen sadly.

                8K 16:9 is 33MP, so a 4:3 sensor requires 44MP.

Wouldn't 1/0.57" be the same size as an APS-C sensor? Unless that's a typo or my estimation is wrong.

Is it necessary? I mean that huge amount of pixels?

Dometalican, 05 Dec 2020What...the actual...freak...? This is so unnecessary, it... moreProblem is not the 108MP sensor. It is Samsung extreme noise reduction.
You need to use raw for usable print of table sized photo. While other give usable as jpeg.

Only difference between HMX and HM1 is size of pixel pitch (irrelevant at low iso [below 6400] used by phones). Both use Phase Detection AF.

Xiaomi takes better photos than Samsung, no one complained about its AF like done to S20 Ultra.

Having it in a smartphone would be quite a feat. Hoping for software improvements and a real good SoC to make use it to full extent.

                          This is beyond stupid now.

The smartphone market doesn't't have a native (non-bayer) 35MP+ raw 8K sensor yet but Sammy is still hell bent to produce these sensors that barely outperforms native 12MP sensors?

You have to be a idiot to think any today's SoC will support this behemoth sensor.

So a 64mp zoomed 4K video has better quality than one of 12mp?

                              This is beyond stupid now.

600 MP? It would be revolutionary if we could see it in 2021. Otherwise some Chinese firm will do it for sure. Maybe that's the reason why we see this news.

And it'll still have that Samsung over processed look which is horrid

                                    Pointless waste of development money.
Nobody needs more than 50MP on a sensor as small as a phone one, I really don't know why Samsung are persisting with this.

I'm pretty sure it can't shoot higher than 150MP. In fact the processor isn't capable enough to take full advantage of the 600MP sensor.

I'm down for this hopefully whatever disadvantages this. Direction might take hopefully it will drive innovation for problem solving we didnt even imagine was possible before

Its obvious it we we stick to the tried and true and what currently "works" we will never have a by breakthroughs or changes
