This is why I always love to flash custom ROM on Chinese-branded phones, especially Xiaomi. Why the f*** I have to use ADB command on my computer to disable the built-in MIUI ads when I can have none of it in the first place?!

Chinese government backed ZTE was connected to such scam. In Mongolia around 2011 to 2012 ZTE was provided free mobile phones to mongolian government officials via gmobile operator.

So, is this a prelude to them suing US phone and app makers, and OS suppliers? The activity is widespread. India banned a lot of things. I have had instances where I've talked off phone about a certain location in a foreign country and then looked up a local address to go to and it gave me that street in the foreign country. I pointed this out to nearby American friends and they said a sentence etc, and the search result then changed to funding that street in America. Just keep your location off and private from them, and see what happens through the back channels? The next week I spoke to a bank manager and he said he had an instance where he was speaking to passengers in the car and and advertisment came up for something they were talking about. Everything you say and do.
Years ago, I proposed a way to 3D map a room from and audio signal over phone. Remember the subsequent Batman film. That's just a fantasy detailed version of it, but they do it now. So, with the right device, what is being done can be seen, particularly if they can pump out signals put of the phone outside the hearing range, and bypass filtering on the input on the device. There were other proposals for no audio too, such as using indirect ambient light reflections, and single pixel light sensor to map was in the environment, which others have proven. Just carrying your phone in your pocket will picking up how you are walking, if sick or injured through your walk, heart beat, body temperature etc. Your adaptive physiology and emotional response to stimulus can be used to tell what you think and feel about something happening or being said, and if you are telling the truth. From lessons on revolutions in history, this sort of craziness is part of it. It's time for a mute all button on the phone. 007 Spy scanner workshop in your pocket, is going to wreck things.

This is exactly how the law "works" in China:
- Bigger companies with larger outreach and market share like Huawei, BBK spawns, Xiaomi pay the protection price and get state backed patronage.
- Smaller fish like these no name, low share, knock off brands get Das Boot because they are sloppy at the malicious activities that they engage in. And if they tick any party man off in whatever way, then that's it for the big brother coverage.
As a Xiaomi phone user (Redmi Note 4 BEFORE the adware got baked into MIUI) I really want to see this company face the music for what they are doing (data mining for adware purposes among other things).
I can't help it that the majority of the global companies are manufacturing in China (they are only now starting to pull away for profit / PR reason) but I won't be purchasing any more of wholly Chinese items anymore. These people are not wholesome, at all.
