There is a definite gap in the market for a compact phone with mid range specs but great battery life ,it seems every manufacturer is making these 6.5 inch + behemoths that are too big and look silly.

Anonymous, 09 Dec 2020LG is like Sony, they make fine phones that nobody cares ab... moreExactly.
But I genuinely believe LG and Sony are not properly trying to give their best. LG recently launched Velvet at around $600 for a Snapdragon 845, probably without their famed QuadDAC. Answer yourself if you'll get it or not.
Same for Sony, they leave features here and there, and even then both LG and Samsung beat them at audio quality, something they're known for.
I had a world of trouble trying to get V40 Thinq, I contacted the company itself, no reply received. Can you believe it? This is how uninterested LG is. LG's branded Indian showrooms, if they even keep one LG phone in stock, change my name! They're hardly concerned.
Ultimately I got a G8x online.

LG is like Sony, they make fine phones that nobody cares about because most people prefer their Samsungs or iPhones... or they sell their soul to the "cheap for a reason" Xiaomi.
Sad

It is about pricing, inovation, quality assurance and marketing. They used to be most innovative company, remember modular phone, self healing, curved, second display, quad DAC, flagships with replaceable battery etc. Now their phones are like any other phones on the market. Besides Asia they targeted US but not Europe. In the States consumers know for Iphone and Samsung and forgot even Motorola. European market is much more open and diverse. They had disasters with G4 and V10 motherbords and unlike Samsung, were very reluctant to admit problems. And yes, they are overpriced. Be original, different and innovative, attack Europe, keep the quality control in place and adjust the prices.

Can't wait for LG to die because they thought they could charge $700 for a low end phone and actually get sales. Christ on a bike. It's like they put a bunch of 12 year olds in charge of sales management.

Here in Canada LG has only made a small dent in the smartphone market. For every 1 LG sold there are 3 or 4 Samsungs sold. Support has been at best spotty with LG, be it with Android updates and security updates. And with this outsourcing for LG's budget and midrange phones I don't see any improvement. Won't be surprised if LG leaves the entire North American market.

Reduce the prices, that's what you should do. You are doing exactly what HTC did. Plus, in my country the LG Wing is the same price as iPhone 12 Pro, Huawei Mate 40 Pro and the list keeps on going.

They already sell low and average hardware at high prices. This is only their next step. Imagine their new ODM Velvet mid-rangers with cheap depth and macro sensors at $750 each one... and without any certification, only the one to sell them. Do they really believe that people will buy them? Not, only a biger margin to still sell some with no sure what purpose today. Wait to watch if people lose their mind and blindly buy their overpriced low outsourced junk? Well, the time will show it, that's for sure.

I have the solution... Make a Pixel competitor. Design it at a high margin and sell it with plain Android. Since very few companies are doing this well it'll give them a nice little niche that Xiaomi has decided to no longer fill.

LivinProof, 08 Dec 2020Well LG need to sell Mid-rangers with mid-ranger chipsets a... moreBecause chinese brands use mostly local suppliers.
In the end if a chinese and non-chinese make a,phone with same specs, the one from China brand will be much cheaper to make.

Rather, they need to focus how to reduce cost on the premium segments... It is impossible for LG to compete with chinese brands.. Look at Samsung... they tried to compete and what a mass... I am a fan of LG and in Bangladesh there is no LG mobile official showroom(though other LG electronics products are available via official showrooms).. third parties dont offer as they are pretty much pricey...

this is so sad. LG is always a step behind in their mainstream phones and had quirky problems. I wish they will stay afloat!

of course when they don't have any design, they invent double screens and something that doesn't matter, I don't understand their managers, who don't have the slightest sense of design that they left with the lg g4 phone when they had a boom, and as for the camera and everything, now that not even close,

I can never get these huge corporations that sell super cut down phones like the world is still lacking price to performance phones and then do that for 22 fricking consecutive quarters.
not lg, not samsung, not sony. all these corporations are so out of touch with reality that when reality hits them hard they act all pikachushocked. I don't get it.
