The result of too many models and trying to "shotgun" to market.

Samsung is trying to play Apple, but they forgot that apple have its own OS and strong eco system.
for android there's plenty of good featured mobile devices with Top tier SoC at acceptable prices.
while samsung is busy copying apple and just increasing price to show that they have their own class out of android world.

AnonD-964431, 26 Dec 2020people are happy with current sh*tty overpriced midrange s... moreJust wait. These will go down as well. They made so many cuts on 2021 A line phones.
Midrange will still be the best selling segment but I expect/hope that sales will not be good as last year.

Why are you surprised? It's Samsung. They haven't been able to stand out and be unique, since s5 and note 3.

Good. people are smartening up and not buying bad phones with crap chipsets and FAKE zoom (1.1x zoom)

This excuse will only hold for Samsung if Apple shipped fewer than normal too.

After seeing the big downgrades on the upcoming S21 series... I'll be surprised if they sell more than 250 million next year.

The pandemic made people careful not to buy buggy products.

okay so what?? i hope the sell even less and crash those prices.

                            Lower the prices Samsung.
I bought a S20 FE for $750 CAD, the touchpad issue drove me nuts, and I returned it.

Grabbed a LG G8X , yes I know it's last year model, for $300 CAD new and it does everything I need it do for more than half price. Not going to get sucked into expensive flagships again.

afronoia, 26 Dec 2020As much as I agree that Samsung phones are getting ridiculo... moreProbably, but if the do increase prices even more will consider buying cheaper brands.

U want to ship 30000000000×100000 million phone?
Make a cheap full option flagship , it is easy

More than 70% of Samsung's smartphones business are from offline physical stores, less than 30% are from online retailers: https://www.counterpointresearch.com/online-smartphone-sales-hit-new-high/ .

So it's logical and not so surprising for Samsung to have lower number of units sold given the state of world right now due to the never ending lockdowns and social distancing.

As much as I agree that Samsung phones are getting ridiculously overpriced, I doubt they will lower their prices. I won't even be suprised if they would raise the prices even more to cover their 'loss' this year.
