ericwang, 01 Jan 2021If I am not wrong Smartphone in Android One program, like M... moreYou are very much wrong: the Android One is just a program where manufacturers (i.e., Xiaomi) commit with Google to ship their devices with an unaltered "stock Google" experience. The program also commits them to the support standards of 24 months with major upgrades, plus 12 months of security updates (after the first 24 months expires). It's not Google that makes or supports the ROMs, that's still the manufacturer. In turn, the manufacturer gets to use more prominent Google logos and make many misleading claims that make people believe "this is straight from Google".

That's why Google must act and stop this sh*tshow. Enough is enough, Xiaomi is ruining the good name of Android One for everyone!

And I wrote "super" glue in LG phones. That doesn't even loosen with alcohol. You can atleast pour alcohol underneath the battery with other brands.

Really Xiaomi has been the company for the est price/performance ratio. But who wants good phone when it's company makes it impossible to use? Maybe my last xiaomi device(coming from a BIG time fan!)...

Xiaomi patches MIUI devices just fine and Android One devices get bricked... Seems pretty sus to me.

I'm going to be honest: for all the bash I give to HMD for their bugs, they have at least not bricked one of their device several times in a row. This is like the third time Trashiomi pushes an update and bricks the Mi A3. You would expect them to learn from the first and second time, but it seems they really dont care at all

                      Xiaomi be like -

We told you to buy a MiUI device but you numbnts insisted on Stock UI. Now there you go. How do you like that now. Not feeling UI enthused no more haah

ericwang, 01 Jan 2021If I am not wrong Smartphone in Android One program, like M... moreYou are wrong though, as Xiaomi Android One is not 100% stock Android, Xiaomi add their own twitch into the phone eg. Camera apps is Xiaomi own proprietary & the appliances control apps as well.

In layman term, Google will sent the update to Xiaomi to modified before sending to user, this is why despite Nokia & Pixel doesn't have any issue but Xiaomi does

Cant imagine having important files saved on your just to get bricked and it not having expandable storage. Thats why I avoid no expandable sdcard phones.

nanagdad, 01 Jan 2021Keep on updating your phone. Soon you'll be forced to ... moreI updated my previous Redmi budget phone as well, and I never really felt like needing for an upgrade. I just upgraded because the hardware is already old (literally a SD625 can no longer handle the things that I do with my phone), but not because Xiaomi did something to my phone that forced me to do it.

My only fault was that I bought a China ROM model, which is difficult to deal with Google services. I bet if I went with a Global ROM model, I wouldn't be facing such problems like this, just as my previous phone having Global ROM didn't really give me problems at all.

It is unfortunate to see other people experiencing problems like this, but I gotta say that their developer support is one of the best in the business so far.

Seriously, only HMD Nokia can fully utilize Android One programme superbly well.

The only way to be safe from Xiaomi planned obsolescence is to install a custom ROM as soon as possible. Too bad if you're not tech savvy or using a mediatek Xiaomi phone. Soon Xiaomi will not allow bootloader unlocking, which they have to approve on your own device by the way & wait for hours if you're lucky they approve & there are no errors.
