I guess people prefer 1080p 120hz displays. I wonder why... The difference is in games, and since I quit playing games on mobile, why bother?
1440p vs 1080p is obvious even on a 5.8 inch screen, let alone on 6.9 inch. Everything is perfectly clear in 1440p. 4k is a bit too much, unless you have magnifier glasses xD.
You people say 1440p is a waste of gpu and cpu resources. No, 1440p takes like 1.75x or so more gpu power. But 1080p 120hz? It requires a good cpu (for 120 frames per second) AND a good gpu to actually get 120fps, even at lower settings.
1440p 60hz, just requires a bit more gpu power...
While 1080p 120hz pushes the cpu, gpu, AND the display. I guess this is why exynos 990 powered S20 line-up is overheating like crazy.
Guess I am gonna keep my s8 even more since there is no more 1440p screens (even 60hz ones).

AnonD-923722, 10 Jan 2021My preference screen :
1. Refresh rate at least 90hz or ... moreIf you want curved sides, it needs to be oled.
Delta above 1,5 is already bad value.

I honestly couldnt care less what the refresh rate of my display is. At the end of the day, it's just a freaking phone

I read a lot of webnovels so i think 120hz will be good on the eye for me. umm and i really dnt watch youtube or movies on my phone so 1080p is fine for me.
and i have always used flat phones, couldnt really afford any curved screened phone.
so cant really answer that

Been using Poco X3 for 2 months now...
60 Hz is a no go for me anymore.
But between 90 and 120Hz, not so much difference.
Atleast for me.
Currently i'm rocking 90Hz on my Poco thanks to the SetEdit app.
Feeling is the same as 120Hz, but much better battery life.

I prefer a flat, 1080 resolution, and 60hz screen is enough for me since I want a long battery life.

no need 1440p in a phone even 4k... 1080p is perfect with 120hz... of course curved screen make beautiful looking but i dont too much care about that... if all of this feature applied it will make a phone even expensive. that is what i am worry.

60hz AMOLED > 144hz IPS LCD
As for curved vs flat, I have no preference. Although because of accidental touches on curved displays, I voted for flat.

I personally prefer 2K OLED or Amoled screen with 90hz refresh rate because I see no difference between 90 and 120 and after using a phone that has maximum 90 and another one that has maximum 120, 90 is the sweet spot for the battery life. I find 120 and above useless on a phone and it drains the battery like crazy. 2K is visible compared to 1080, those who don't see it maybe they need glasses or something. And I would chose a flat screen over the useless curved ones. But from the way I see it, foldables are the future, normal phones from today will disappear or they will become less and less used.

I'm actually more comftable using 90hz. I mean having 120hz running all the time will make me anxious thinking its sucking up the battery (even though the phone has a huge battery). Also 1080p is fine but higher res can clearly makes a difference.

Anonymous, 10 Jan 2021on a choice between 120hz lcd or 60hz oled
i chose 60h... more2k is the same as 1080p
FHD = 2k = 1080x1920
QHD = 2.5k = 1440x2560
UHD = 4k = 2160x3840

I am for variable refresh rate for purposes of smoothing the frame rate render time variations and preventing it to deep under 60 Hz. Still I think it's only for workloads that can cause such fluctuations aka game's and that 90 Hz or even 75. Certainly not all the time. Until that's sorted out satisfactory I don't see much use from high refresh rate display's.

4K is great to see all you can, so I don't have to care about if it's enough or not if I got it all.
There is a reason 144Hz exist, we hate lagging.
Curved screen is great on touch, no useless bezel space, corners are enough to keep the screen from damage, no matter flat/not.

2K screens are just bulk weight on cpu and battery. it is not possible to differentiate from 1080p in a 6-7" display from a "healthy reading distance". although the software gives you a choice, you cannot literally change resolution. however, refresh rate is different. you can change it in settings depending on your taste. I can limit a 120hz screen to 60hz for battery life or vice versa. so, a native 1080p@120hz setup is the best of all worlds.

Dave, 10 Jan 2021Please GSM Arena, send this to Samsung and other companies ... moreP40 Pro makes sense. It makes swiping from the top, bottom and sides more natural. It also makes gestures glide, because of the sides aren't flat, it makes an smooth transition
