Also isocell means a tech to prevent light from leaking to neighbor pixel.
Actually no sensor has this issue today.

Ah yes, we definitely need more megapixels on the same tiny sensor size

devils468, 09 Jan 2021can someone explain me this article i don't quite unde... moreObviously no. Crop will never be reach the quality of optical lens. In fact the further you want to capture the image, the worse will be the result cropping. And add also the digital processing to the obtain the final image. If cropping is as good... Why don't remove the optical telephoto lens from the Ultra model?

Advertising the S21 and S21+ as 3x hybrid soon knowing that the real optical zoom is 1.1x seems more like a scam then anything else, and more asking the prices they ask. Why not 5x hybrid if they are that good without optical telephoto lens? Because it would be too obvious the lose of quality and that is almost all digital.

can someone explain me this article i don't quite understand it, like what's an ISOCELL sensor? does 200MP mean we don't need tele cameras in our phones anymore?

So Samsung are chasing no again, it's really a pointless exercise.
More mp does not automatically make for better photos and adds to processing overhead to boot.

While I love this accomplishment I think Samsung would greatly profit from developing more dedicated camera software. They are the kings of hardware, but just a slight increase in AI stacking and color accuracy could make them even better.
Adding to that I think there is a LOT of optimization to be done. We have so much raw horsepower on the phones, there needs to be more clever ways to make use of it than increaing the scale.

does this mean we will no longer need telephoto cameras??

i0S...Never...Again, 09 Jan 2021Incoming Sony guys who'll bash these sensors for the s... more1) All exmor are superior to their Isocell counterpart.

2) Sony is not stupid to make a 200MP sensor for mobile. Not even for medium format cameras they would make.

3) Samsung is always copying sony sensor tech.

Anonymous, 09 Jan 2021Of course they can. Pinch to zoom exists for a decade, but ... moreNo one zooms in while watching photos unless you're doing a camera comparison. People just view the image as a whole. If everyone was really zooming in Apple would be out of business by now

Seems like serious competition for sony sensors, which is great for customers.

Taking hdr raw stack on this will be fun. its like 17x 12mp.

But still, I would ask you. How well the Samsung's 108 MP sensor received against the Popular 12-48-64 MP Sensors from other brands? .. Ask yourself that question!

And the image quality still terrible as always. :-(

  • AlienFromNextDoor

And the picture quality will still be on par or worse than s10. There are many video comparisons on YouTube showing the s10 and note 10 beating the full s20 and note20 line.

These numbers serve only to sell an illusion of progress.
We've hit a ceiling with the s10 and pixel phones.

These sensors are probably not for phones as phones can't even show a 48mp image on their screen
