Weekly poll results: The ideal display is a flat 120Hz panel of 1080p resolution

17 January 2021
On the flip side, high resolution curved displays are an unpopular option, especially if the refresh rate is just 60Hz.

Curved screens look great, but very impractical because of accidental touches and inability of screen to adapt according to what is shown on the screen, like the home screen is fine to have the display go round the corners but in case of a video or a game, it shouldn't go pass the curves.

Anonymous, 17 Jan 2021Curved screens are a crime against humanity. Yeah...plus curved screen and under display finger print reader are the worst combination ever

I agree with the result but I have a not popular opinion, the display should also be an LCD, not only for cost but for better sharpness and clarity than AMOLED

I don't mind going for a higher spec with PC monitors since I'm just leaving it at home. But for a smartphone screen, this is just right. Anything more than 1080p and 120Hz will only use more battery, especially for smartphones that didn't have the ability to change either setting.

Even if you consider the distance of 12 feet and calculate the maths, its coming to 3.67 times objectivity. so a similar experience in a phone with 429ppi. Abd those TVs cost 15 s20 ultra with their 1440p displays put together. So a phone with 1080p is still a better experience than most 4k TVs, tablets, monitors, and laptops. You really have to look for finer details to notice any difference. How do I know? I am still using my s6 edge as a secondary device with my primary 7T. 7T has 400PPI and my s6 edge has over 570. There is difference, in texts and 4k movies, but you have to go very near and look side by side

I never notice the 120hz so I guess 60 is fine for me.

Text fonts actually change to include slightly thinner fonts yet the texts are sharper, and in general it's just really nice. I also see the resolution difference when editing photos and when watching 1440p videos.

The ideal is obviously being able to switch between 1080p and 1440p as you need it, I'm not seeing how NOT having this option and being stuck at 1080p is preferable.

Also, the resolution race was nonsense on 5" displays but with todays 6.7" displays its definitely starting to make a difference.

                                  Your bet failed. 😆

This is an interesting way of interpreting the results, in the poll you phrased the 1080p choice as "I'd rather a high refresh screen". I don't think anyone in that poll would say 1080p is "ideal"
