I might upgrade my Nokia 7 Plus but to be frank the later Nokia 7 devices did not add much onto 7 Plus. No big CPU difference, no wireless charging, no stereo speakers... I hope they add something significant this year.

Still performs really well, never had a problem with it and am loathed to change it. I'll see what the 9 looks like when it arrives but if it's short cheap plastic phone, I'm off.

Nokia is a best phone but resell value is not so good

Anonymous, 24 Jan 2021I'm using 8.1 let me confess that the became decent on... moreHMD Global from its onset had an ambition to set new standards in phone design, material quality and manufacturing innovation by building on the hallmarks of a true Nokia phone experience.

The dream however did not last long and were mostly confined in the first 2 years, between 2017 & 2018. The reason for this was mainly due to very aggressive pricing by Chinese manufacturers who used cheap construction materials and techniques. On it's first year their lineup (Nokia 6) had the quality but lacked in performance except for the flagship Nokia 8. In 2018, they rectified this performance issue for mid to higher end models and three models stood out. Nokia 8 Sirocco, Nokia 7 Plus & Nokia 6.1.

Nokia 6.1, Nokia 7 Plus are masterpieces in terms of timeless design & craftsmanship. These phones belongs to what Nokia called "material first led design". Pure Nokias under HMD banner. Alas all current Nokia's are nowhere near to them in terms of construction quality.

For instance, Nokia 6.1's body is carved out for a single block of 6000 series aluminum to start with. It takes an hour to mill out the whole body from the aluminum block. There is no stamped metal parts for decoration here. In the next 10 hours of manufacturing process it goes through a unique two tone anodization process. First the phone is dipped in an anodization pool where bare aluminium body & the physical buttons receives the desired color (blue in my case). Then a cutter is used to shave the blue anodized aluminium body on both side edges, creating this unique diamond cut edges. Same for the buttons. A second layer of anodization is then applied on the edges & buttons to have the desired edge colors (gold color in my case). Thus the two tone Blue/Gold anodization process gets completed. The phone body then gets polished for no less than 5 times for roughly 2 hours to provide this incredible satin like look and in-hand feel. Entire manufacturing process takes over 13 hours to complete.

Finally a die cast metal mid-frame is screwed internally to the metal body which reinforces the core of the Nokia 6.1. No less than 19 screws locks the internal metal plate to its body which gives Nokia 6.1 it ultimate structural integrity & durability. This is an approach to engineering that is build to last. A Scandinavian design focusing on quality, design & craftsmanship with an incredible attention to detail. Same goes for Nokia 7 Plus.

No wonder both phones own many prestigious smartphone design awards and was also awarded the most durable phones of of 2018, none other than famous YouTuber JerryRigsEverything.

I have both phones and they are like gold mines to me with timeless design. They never feel old whenever I look at them. It is pity smartphones of this design caliber & internal strength are not produced anymore. Not even by Nokia.

I wish Nokia can bring a feature phone with smart phone's apps and with a friendly budget like it always rocks.

They need better phones. They have nothing. 8.3 is horrible phone for its price. Everything is compromise.
They should consider relaunching Nokia 9 without multi cam setup as a mid range (250$-350$) phone.

The phone was nice for its features but camera was not impressive & display too also the mono speaker.
For me Nokia 8, 7+ & 6.1 was their best products and 8.1 & 9 was just above average phones.

hmd global please back with old nokia mobile phone name like that nokia x6, nokia n73, nokia n72, nokia 5800, nokia 6303, with android , i am waiting for this , but nokia device is very slow compare to other brands , so please nokia do work on it and provide better smartphones

Let's just accept the fact that the Nokia brand is dead. HMD can't even launch a decent phone after the 8.1. Pretty sure those "plenty of new phones" are just going to be overpriced but underperforming phones.
