25 January 2021
The phone might arrive as a direct competitor to the iPhone 12 mini, but sources from Japan say otherwise.

Xperian, 25 Jan 2021Imagine there is Sony Xperia Compact Pro 5G, 5.5 inch QHD O... moreAre you crazy?

    5.5" 21:9 has similar size of 5" 16:9.
    You want 120Hz QHD?
Also, 4000mAh inside a phone that would be smaller than Samsung S10e?

Sony needs to reach back out into the world. So many countries have received half a decade of the 'premium' android Samsung Galaxy ### Exynos BS with Samsung selling 2 phones of entirely different performance under the same misleading series names in regions they dont respect. With this years Samsung downgrades on galaxy S21 there is a market for compact phones that repect the customer not defective seconds from Samsung. Any maket with the S20 exynos running at 7degrees hotter than a normal phone is a logical target for Sony. Sony please bring your phones back to Australia. Grey imports are not a great option for anyone

Imagine there is Sony Xperia Compact Pro 5G, 5.5 inch QHD OLED screen with 120 hz refresh rate, without any notch, SD 888 chip, side mounted finger print scanner, 3.5 mm jack, 4.000 mAh battery, and flagship camera setup. That's the dream comes true.

If there is enough battery capacity (considering the size) and it doesn't come with bad cameras/SoC, this will be my next phone.

            Thanks Sony!

arun5959, 25 Jan 2021As far as smartphones are concerned Sony cannot do anything... moreStop dreaming, it's Japanese company which means that innovation and bold moves not going to happen. One, especially from lower corporate rank is not supposed to be innovative and creative, instead small, tiny changes will slowly trickle down through corporate structures

Go look at Phonearena.com's post on the same phone, they say it's 140mm tall and 68mm wide. That's not that compactness we were expecting. Just a tiny bit smaller than S10e.

I hope that the price will be "compact" too. And i hope with 2 major Android updates.

Anonymous, 25 Jan 2021Another useless phone from Sony, as usual. Probably it will... moreif price the issue I completely understand, you can't beat Xiaomi to get a decent phone that does nothing extraordinary and does everything good enough. To me just staring at those awful OLED screens on Xiaomi or Samsung A series it's not worth the money no matter how little they cost but I do understand that people vote with their wallets and what they can actually afford.

People who only care about SoC on phone are such a joke. They need to drop such mindset and keep that crap to desktop PC, since features are what matter more for phone.

I love the design but I'm not a fan of the low-tier SoC it might come with.

Iirc, Sony phones that has a notch always have entry-level specs. So if that notch from the render is real, then expect SD 480 chipset in it. But hey, who knows that Sony might surprise everyone with the use of a flagship-tier chipset like SD 865 or SD 870.

I'm fed up with big phones in my pocket. and this one promises 3.5mm jack.
Just include an OLED (always-on) display. and for sure this will be my next phone!!!!

Compact phones will come back!! not all us desire a giant phone!!

                                  Size of XA2.

                                  Stop calling compact.

For me the perfect android phone would be the pixel 4a but the battery size/life is just too small. If Sony make this with a good battery life I will buy it even with a less powerful processor.

How can it be a "direct competitor to iPhone 12 mini" when it has a entry level chipset?

To me, this seems like Xperia L5(or whatever the successor to L4 is called)!
