YUKI93, 29 Jan 2021Tempting, but I'll wait and see real world reviews abo... morePretty sure I seen something like this years ago from a science magazine. They were indicating a light fixture mount / adapter which would give it a more precise - one direction (conical) approach. Been a few years since I read it though.

Offices, co-working spaces, malls and even some airport lounges(based on insulation and range) would benefit from this. Besides like its mentioned in the article, it can expand to other devices as well eg. Pos terminals.

If this really works I'm amazed. And also wondering about health effects given that some people get affected by WiFi/4G/5G in form of headaches and stuff, this thing is emitting a far higher power. I mean, most consumer emitters have antenna power in milliwatts and top out at 1W (EU has even lower emitter limits). This has 5W. And I wonder if it's 5W on antenna or 5W on receiving end, because that would mean even greater emitter output. And how it is when you're in between the base and phone and it has to go through you...
But if all works well and has no effects on anything, then I hope phones supporting this will have charge limiter. So you can set it to stay at 50%, 75% or 80% charge when in range and not at 100% at all times coz that sucks for battery.
