Anonymous, 03 Feb 2021Heh LG V30 with f/1.9 2017. Apple 2020 f/2.4, LG G5 2016 f/2.4 :Dhmmmm... seems that's the reason LG phones are found everywhere than iphones.
its always better for a business to have an incremental upgrades, ideas run out faster

I just wish Apple gives us a matte finish glass back that the 11 Pro and 12 Pro series got. Or even just simply using plastic like the Pixel 5.
I'm buying old smartphones that were released between 2012-2016. Their build quality and size was so much better. I forget Nexus 5 with a soft plastic back still gave us wireless charging.
One reason I'm reluctant getting the iPhone 12 mini is the glass back. My Nexus 4 has it but I just prefer matte finishes more. It's why I decided not to get the iPhone 4S. Of course, I do tend to cover them up with a case anyway.

Anonymous, 03 Feb 2021"The new f/1.8 lens will increase the amount of light ... moreNo dispute of the rules of photography; but your sentence contains that big "IF." And the article does not mention anything about intentions to make the sensor smaller - if anything, it reports rumors in direct contradiction to your doubts:
"It's also likely that Apple will increase the sensor size of the new ultrawide angle cameras as the current 1/3.6" fades when compared to the Galaxy S21 Ultra's 1/2.55" or the Huawei Mate 40 Pro's mammoth 1/1.54"."
(everyone sane, let's just pretend that the author has not made a connection between "mammoth" and 1/1,54'' :P )

Aren't these "analysts" all bunch pretentious fools? They just have a board with bunch of topics about "new iPhone" and just throw darts randomly at it and then make huge "revelations" and "predictions" on whatever darts hit on that board. Like the yearly "new iPhone will arrive in fall this year". No s**t sherlock, really? I thought it'll come next year in March...

"The new f/1.8 lens will increase the amount of light reaching the sensor over the f/2.4 lens used on current iPhone ultrawides."
Not true, if the sensor size is much smaller.

Bad idea.
People should stop with this obssession of having at night same quality as daylight.
No phone will ever have.
This f1.8 paired with same 1/2.6" behind 13mm is just gonna harm the edges. Quality is worse among expensive phones already. Also make cam bump even larger.
Compare the Samsung S9 f2.4 vs f1.5 ..
Daylight photos are sharper with f2.4, also with less soft edges.
