MrDong, 07 Feb 2021The regular Airpods does slip out of ears easily as it lack... moreIt seems many people don't like the design of AirPods and Earpods but Earpods have been the only design I've ever been comfortable with. Perhaps my ears have contoured to them since I use them all the time (except when sleeping, it's not even much an exaggeration) but I'm scared to move away from wired Earpods incase the in ear design of non-AirPods hurts me :/

The headline and question asked here are misleading. The poll asks what you USE, not what you PREFER. Considering phone manufacturers have FORCED the removal of the headphone jack then most people have no choice!

Wired headphones are objectively superior: no charging, better sound quality, easier to connect/disconnect, less easy to lose, cheaper. There is NO justification for the removal of the headset jack.

That's it, between those who use BOTH Wired and Wireless and those who use only Wired, it is 56,84% of people who use wired in total.
Meaning over the majority, and it is only about hear/head phones/pieces, not the totality of audio uses, which by the way is not the entirety of uses of the 3.5mm Jack who has other purposes too.
On Android Authority, there was a poll about that were 72,2% voted they preferred the 3.5mm Jack out of 6369 votes.
        https://www.androidauthority.com/wired-headphones-after-bluetooth-poll-1153236/

Meaning those who want the 3.5mm Jack to be removed have both no legitimacy as there was NEVER been a single good argument in favor of removing it, but also they are extremely arrogant egocentric as despite something being used by a LOT of people they want it to be gone despite it literally causing not a single arm/drawback by simply existing and not using it.

The Jack DOESN'T prevent you from using your Bluetooth thingy, the lack of it DOES prevent those who want to use it to do so, and NO, for many cases, the adapter is NOT an option, what if we say to ditch the Bluetooth as it create unnecessary cost and space waste and is a security breach in itself, and you should buy a USB to Bluetooth adapter?
Stop being egoistic, if you don't like the Jack, just don't use it, no force you to do so, but don't try to make it disappear, that's because of this very poor attitude that portless phones may be the next trend and that you'll be without any USB of any kind that you like it or not, it if/when it happens, you better not cry about it if you fought in any way to the 3.5mm Jack removal.

Most people are also sheeple who will follow any silly fashion trend. Wired headphones are objectively superior in that they don't require charging, are simple to enable/disable by just plugging/unplugging, and don't reduce audio quality. Wired are also less easy to drop or lose.

There is absolutely NO justification for removing the wired headset jack on phones.

Been using galaxy buds since they came out, couldn't go back to wired at this point, it's just too convenient and the sound quality isn't bad. No more cables getting caught on something and the earbuds falling out or getting audio interference because the cables are moving, most of all i don't have to replace them because the cable broke. Ironically my last earbuds had replaceable cables, but the earbud itself died first, but that design introduced the interference(crackling) that i mentioned before.

I myself own Galaxy Buds and they don't sound good at all. There is a constant hiss and it only disappears at higher volumes. I've had them for two years and wired headphones sound about a million times better.

I think, thanks to preorders that come with TWS earbuds and the phones that lack the jack, they're all forced to go wireless at this point. Since I need a new phone soon (LG V20 is getting wonky on me), I'm probably aiming for the Xperia one mark iii so long as they don't blow it on the battery and LTE/5G networks. I wouldn't mind an LG V70 though as long as they went 2K@90Hz and kept everything else intact (well...slight bump in battery and 256GB internal storage couldn't hurt either).

Anonymous, 07 Feb 2021Almost 60% use wired headphones, according to your own poll... more27% use wired only, 29% use a mixture of both. If you're saying 60% use wired headphones, you can just as easily say 70% use wireless headphones using that logic

Well, as stated, audio quality takes a hit when going wireless - but new Bluetooth protocols are addressing that today and frankly they sound better and better with every new generation.

I understand that for most people, simple earbuds are the way to go because convenience will usually beat quality in the mainstream. This is why we listen to compressed MP3's for example. Other advantages are the tiny form factor and the fact that you can take calls with them seamlessly, and the fact that they weigh nothing (many people are sensitive to more bulky earphone designs), but the in-ear concept has its drawbacks as well.

I had an ear infection a few months ago and when I went to my Ear, Nose & Throat Dr., he told me that he is seeing a lot more ear infections since in-ear earbuds started to gain more popularity (both wired and wireless). He said "Anything that goes inside your body is by definition a surgical device, and needs to be sterile" and he told me to stop using my earbuds entirely.

I do still use them, but I am more aware of hygiene now and try to wipe them and their cases down with alcohol as frequently as possible.

That said, even going wired, you need to deal with the fact that most phones today (especially the cheaper ones) don't have high-end DAC's onboard, with a few exceptions such as LG's V series etc, so going wired also isn't always the best audiophile solution.

As I have said before, I use a BT DAC from Fiio (BTR3K) and plug wired headphones into it, such as my Koss Portapro's or SHP-9500's, or my M40X's and I get a pretty decent sound - and minimize ear infections as well - but sometimes I am waiting in line somewhere and I just pop out my earbuds because they live in my jeans pocket and provide (relatively) great sound for a few hours with minimum hassle - and because simply put, they are there, on me, at all times.

"most people prefer wireless in-ear headphone"
But still we all have to hear "why no 3,5mm jack" every new release, even it's a minority who want this retro cable stuff.
