This view clearly based on current available smaller phone's dimensions. Expected much smaller. This view will make iphone mini look more preferred by users those who look for small phones.

The problem is not the width but height of today's Smartphones. It's impossible to use the devices with one hand. Sure some have the one hand mode implement, but that's not really a solution.
OEMs are pushing for bigger devices with crazy aspect ratio (20-21/9) and people keep on buying those devices. And with each generation those handsets get bigger and more uncomfortable to use.
The reason why OEMs are going for 20-21/9 big Smartphone is the trend of foldable devices. In a couple of years that will be the new standard. These foldable devices have a crazy aspect ratio otherwise it would not be practical to use when unfolded (regarding aspect ratio).
If you want Compact phones then stop buying big phones. If your current Smartphone is still working then stick longer to it. That's the only language OEMs understand. As long as you buy new models OEMs will push even further with monster sized Smartphones.

Funny to complain about batteries when they are all sealed and every carries a huge power brick anyways to charge their paper thin toys.

Personally I believe that if one could reach the farthest edge with his thumb while using a device with one hand is the perfect size, which takes out the question of what height a phone should be... Height of the phone is only a concern when it's in pocket, but width affects the way u hold ur phone

Size of mobile should be less than 140mm in height and width less than 70mm...
Large phone aren't easy to handle.
Small phones are really very easy to operate with 1 hand

Make mini phone but make it thicker to include atleast 3000+ mah battery into it specially iphone

the way i see it 6 inch is compact, 6.5 is medium size and 7inch should be the maximum size companies should never come over.

I'm still waiting for a normal sized android phone to replace my XZ1 compact... I was hoping Samsung would make my life easier but it seems their 'compact' is over 6''.
I'm seriously considering going to Apple with my money

Ajmal, 08 Feb 2021Pixel 4a is perfect sizeAgree, compact phones aside anything under 145mm length & 70mm width is ergonomically comfortable for me but if the size extends 145mm & beyond in length and 70mm+ in width it's basically impossible to use comfortably with one hand.
If am going with a phone uncomfortable to use one handed then I might as well go with a big ass phone with 6.7" display for two handed use and added benefits of a big phone.

For me the problem with now a day phones is not the screen size, but the impossibility to operate them comfortably. I started to notice that the phones are getting bigger when I replaced my Xiaomi Mi4c with Redmi 5 plus.
Mi 4c was almost same size as iPhone SE2 - 139/69 mm. For me this is an acceptable size. If the entire area is filled with screen - great, but iPhone SE2 is OK too.
I replaced my Redmi 5 plus very quickly - less than a month with Meizu 15 - 143/72 and it was relatively comfortable to use, but still I felt it wider than I would prefer. And perhaps if it was with all area screen, it would be taller too.
Unfortunately due to problems with 2 SIM support with the Meizu, I had to replace it with a given from the office Huawei P Smart Pro - 163/77 - this cannot be used by a human. And I don't use it. My battery lasts 4 days at least since I almost don't touch it.
So for me iPhone 6/7/8/SE2 is the perfect sized phone, but since I am sticked to Android for some reasons, I will wait for a phone with it's size, dual SIM support and Android. Pixels don't work for me - no eSIM support for them in Bulgaria.
