I really hope they will fight real hard for their survival.
I own one of their phones, and it's amazing.
    Trump is such a jerk.

Anonymous, 11 Feb 2021Let's suppose you are the owner of Coca-Cola Company. ... moreIt could be even worse. Not for the owner (because he owns the business), but there are employees, like some managers or something, that are even oblige (contractual) to use/drive/own products of that particular company they are working for.
So yeah, is more serious than that, because you are ruling the company image. And if the person is a public figure, that is not good.
Plus, it could be even psychological effect. If even your own boss doesn't use Huawei phones, then why should you even care?

Lets face it. Apple are the pioneer of trends. Whatever they do others will follow afterwards. The twist it introduce something new in your product that is better than the trending product.

The other guy is bragging as if Huawei CEO and daughter were using iPhone because it is better than their Huawei flagship which might not necessarily be the case.

This is where I gave example of Apple CEO and other board of directors using Blackberry back in the day over their own company's iPhone. That doesn't necessarily make the Blackberry better than the iPhone.

The people running these smartphone companies and their families are extremely technically deficient. They just buy phones based on trends and whatever the majority of the people in their social circle use. That doesn't mean what the majority use is the better phone.

So no R&D costs for them, lol. But, in their defense, they needed to start somewhere.
Like a friend of mine use to say, you can't invent the wheel the second time.

After that, when they established a fanbase and they also started increasing the quality, was normal that the prices would increase too.
The same did One Plus and now looks like Xiaomi is doing it too. Time will tell if it is a good approach or not.
But, for me, if I had to choose between an expensive Huawei or Xiaomi and an expensive Samsung or iphone, I will choose the second ones.

The whole premise of Huawei keeping the market competitive was to keep prices down, but as soon as they put out a phone that can compete with Samsung and Apple the price jumped way up to be the same.
Now the Huawei fanboys are not saying so much about being competitive but how good EMUI is. The phone is still overpriced but it's obviously overlooked.
Xiaomi is following the same trend.

The chinese companies including their leader, preach that they want liberal thinking, they want markets to open to chinese products, etc. But, in the end they just want total monopoly. They are no different than US on this regard.
They just want the power to be shift from west to east. They don't want joint ventures, that's for sure. At least not in the long run.
I don't know about you, but I like the power to be where it is, in the west. I am afraid to think what will happen to this world if china will be the one pulling the strings.
