This is all posturing.
Read the so-called "Senior Official's" statements. You'd consistently find the word "allies."
Western allies have been skeptical of the US going after China. Only a few like Australia are fully onboard. The likes of Germany, France, UK, Canada are practicing what they sublimely call "strategic neutrality." Which isn't surprising, considering their economies rely on China a lot.
Biden cannot immediately lift the punitive actions on China because that'll be political suicide. Instead, he'd talk tough and impose soft sanctions. And over time begin to de-escalate slowly. The media will not make a fuss, and his cop out will be that de-escalation was necessary after "reviewing with allies."
China owns Biden. And anyone who's looked at North Korea and Iran (even Syria) would know Democrats are clowns when they're in power. No one outside the US is sh*tting their pants over Biden. Certainly not China.

The nu... moreWell, probably around 20% of the goods and products that China needs are either imported or based off a US patent. In comparison, more than 80% of the products in US are made in China specifically or with components that are manufactured there. So who is more dependent on the other? The only reason why China is keeping things more mellow and hasn't imposed similar bans on companies like Apple and others is because they don't want Chinese companies to lose money from sales, while the US government doesn't care as their trade bans have resulted in billions in losses for some US companies.
But if the US continues down that path, at some point China can just dump their US debt and then their economies will crash along with the rest of the world, but China will recover way faster. That's how future wars will be waged - turning the biggest economies in the world in third-world countries in a day.

Those chip wont exist if there is no US ban.

I think it's all stupid. If USA doesn't want to have anything to do with them, then fine, don't allow Huawei to sell their devices in USA. But leave everyone else alone. Huawei was a healthy competition and it made everyone else push hard on improvements and innovations. Since Huawei was forced to drop from market because of USA, it feels like everyone just went into stagnation mode.

Not exactly. In my place, Huawei always the cheapest one. Just bought vanilla P40 for $500 brand new last month. Compact flagship specs, yet with a camera setup that no other brands on its price range can touch its camera quality. A near 1 inch camera sensor.

I live in the EU. On one side there is Google, Microsoft, Facebook and other US companies that God knows how they manage my data. On the other side the Chinese manufacturers that might do the exact same thing we know from Snowden that USA did. The way I see it, this is politics over data. I think the only secure phone is an oldschool NOKIA with nothing smart about it. Privacy is a compromise in today's world.
