They'll keep on improving it until it's perfect. Then everyone can enjoy an unblemished display.

I remember seeing a video or reading an article about this tech where the structure of an oled screen gets altered by a current flow thus somehow affecting the opacity of its layers.

notafanboy, 22 Feb 2021And? That somehow makes it okay to have such crap quality? ... moreI also never have owned a good selfie camera phone or even a good main camera phone, but i dont see it like have missed out on something special in life cause i have never had these things. I rather have no selfie camera at all or under the screen at least so it wont waste my screen space with cutouts or just a hole. For me these are really annoying.
And also the space around the cutouts or teardrop or hole is wasted screen. Even tough i dont know what should be used in there but still i see it wasted space. Especially if you can fake bezel for it. But thats my point of view about it.

"Now, the Chinese manufacturer has improved the technology"
This is as stupid as how the K40 was marketed as the phone with the "smallest punch hole in the world".
In both cases the issue is the same, one, the punch hole that is clearly made to disappear, and yet they insist with it, try to make it as small as possible without realizing that the issue isn't its size or placement, but its existence, a hole is still a hole, and it has absolutely no place in any display of any kind, and certainly not in an expensive, crazy high pixel density, high refresh rate display.
Underdisplay camera are the same, regardless how you improve it, it will still be a camera trying to look through something with no 100% transparency/with opacity, which EVERY SINGLE sensor in the world, except those made to spy where quality isn't a concert, avoid at all cost, which is the exact reason why send billions worth telescope in space, because even the air can be considered not opaque enough.
So looking through a display is a laughable idea, the Samsung solution is good :
https://www.androidauthority.com/samsung-under-display-camera-phone-1188611/
Because it offers both privacy and good quality, which can allow proper biometric to be installed, it also is cheap and doesn't cause the display to have a spot with low quality, but anything trying to look through the display itself is totally stupid, and regardless how much they can improve it, it will ALWAYS be visually challenged.
Keep in mind that we aren't talking about just a "not good" quality here, the Axon 20 have a horrible awful quality, and this is for the pictures after an IA tried to improve the quality, the video quality is so bad that it is actually hard to find another real piece of hardware with such a mediocre quality, and improving isn't a "magically resolve it all" thing, if a concept is fundamentally flawed, regardless how much you try to fix it, as they said, you can polish a turd as much as you want, it will still be a turd.
Same for underdisplay camera, and the worse part is that everyone is so blind to that, that they overhype it to the point that it risk taking over the market and replace any other alternatives, but it wouldn't be the first time in the smartphone industry that the wrong, or even the literally worse choice possible is what become the norm...

Stay mad. Not my problem.

Very nice progress. Apple will now try market it as its own if allowed, or if ZTE doesn't agree, Huawei s fate will come to it too.

If that's the real image, then it indeed looks rather satisfactory. That's a pretty big improvement for a 2nd-gen device. Good job ZTE team!
Hope this tech matures fast & becomes mainstream. Put an end to the holes & notches for good.
