And it has a mid-range 3x telephoto lens as well. The two screens have 90 Hz refresh rate, the inner one is almost square, the outer one is 21:9.

Alpha, 22 Feb 2021Previous Mate XS owner here. I'd buy it in a heartbeat... moreGo for it without the worries of Google services. You can download Dual Space to install all Google stuffs but try to live without Google! 😅

I dont get the logic... Fold 2 is an evolution of Fold, which in turn is a concept by Samsung developed long back. Now how did this Mate X2 be in development longer than Fold?#BlindFanboyism

This is exactly why the US government is so afraid of Huawei. Hahahah

-Design: I like that it doesn't leave an awkward gap in the middle and one side of the body is thinner than the other (The thinner side has a camera bump - probably less rattling placed on a table), though the lack of selfie camera on the main display is worrying given many people might want to use the video calling app in the tablet mode.

-Display: Clearly not Samsung grade, just decent in terms of quality I guess. I wish the main panel ran at 120Hz but at the same time I appreciate the fact they keep the screen refresh rate on both displays exactly the same for more consistent user experience.

-Storage, RAM, SoC: Having an expandable storage is a win over Fold 2, the lack of 12GB RAM option is not. Since this is a tablet form factor, I assume that it can handle the heat from its GPU pretty well.

-Camera: Did they just put better cameras on a freaking foldable than on their own "Pro" high end lineup??? OIS for the main camera, dual telephoto setup + UWA camera that can be used for macro shots.. Not much love for Mate 40 Pro, huh.. Anyway, nothing short of impressive.. well done.

-Battery: I'll wait for actual battery life tests to be done by independent reviewers (if they'll be any), but 55W quick charging is a nice-to-have feature.

-Price: Ha. Ha. Very funny. Just like Mate Xs, good for rich people (because there are a LOT in China), not for commoners like me. The lack of GMS means I wouldn't probably buy one even if it was sold at 1/3 of the original price, so not that it really matters to me in the first place.

Not gonna lie, this thing looks far more all-rounded than I initially expected it to be. I thought it would be something like Galaxy Fold 2 but slightly worse in every single way when I first saw the leaks, but it turned out this foldable can actually trade blows with the Samsung's counterpart in many area and I can see it selling fairly decently in the mainland China.
With that said, I won't recommend anyone around me buying one if they ever ask for my advise on their new phones. Well, unless they really want a foldable form factor, hate Google's ecosystem, and have tons of money to waste in their wallet.

Absolutely fantastic, but who are Huawei kidding?
Why don't they price it similar to the ZFold 2 for increased competition, bcoz this seriously seems to give the ZFold 2 a tough fight. Thanks for the unblemished inner display (though no video calls for some could be an issue as already stated) & the zero-gap hinge just like the Mate X. Sammy has some catching up to do.
          Overall great job Huawei!!👏🏻👏🏻

Anonymous, 22 Feb 2021Shameless copy of Fold2, 1:1 :) They were kidding with Fol... moreLook at the hinge. It's much more refined than Fold 2, which leaves a big gap when closed. This may have been in development far longer than the Fold and they've only released it when it was ready, unlike Samsung when the released the Fold with huge build problems. Still would like to check if the crease is less noticeable than Samsung's.

They were kidding with Fold2 when released...

Being honorless is new trend among all companies, all of them.

Previous Mate XS owner here. I'd buy it in a heartbeat, the hardware is leaps and bounds ahead of Sammy (and everyone else). But I eventually decided I couldn't live without Google Pay and Wear. Get Google inside this thing and it will be the new benchmark to beat.

One HUGE bravo for doing the simplest thing: not ruining the big inside display with a notch or hole. Oh, hi Sammy, how are you?

In my opinion, it os better than the Z fold 2. Sure, you lose 120hz, gms and samsung brand. But the better camera, design, charging makes up for it.

This would sell like hotcakes if they had sufficient stock

                        2300€....

the fold 3 will still cheaper
