sohail shafayat, 23 Feb 2021sounds good! a 3:2 sensor could have been better!! we have ... moreEven regarding the hardware, the sensor size doesn't really matter so much. It's a common misunderstanding. The CM1 only has an f/2.8 lens and even without OIS. Phones like the S21 Ultra, Xiaomi Note 10, Vivo X60 Pro Plus, OnePlus 8 Pro, Lenovo Motorola Edge+ or Huawei P30 Pro capture more light per time. And the iPhone 12 Pro Max hardware captures nearly the same amount of light per time as the Panasonic Cm1.

sohail shafayat, 23 Feb 2021this is a pointless excuse! i know they are in 4:3, but why... moreYou lose light with a 16:9 sensor as you use less from the image circle, so the sensor area is smaller. The field of view (solid angle) will be smaller, too. If you want the same field of view as before, you need a smaller focal length. But a smaller focal length with the same f number captures less light per time from an object.

sohail shafayat, 23 Feb 2021I don't want to crop, it's a burden, why don'... moreBecause Mobile sensors are 4:3. This way you can use almost all pixels available except for those in the corners outside lens circle.

For example Sony 1ii has 3:2 option, but is 10MP.
                            While 4:3 mode has 12.

Now imagine how many pixels are "lost" when you have 48 or 108MP.

Samsung needs to have this sensor, or a version of this, in the next S Series. Also, they should have a NudusCell CFA, in a SM Pattern. That should improve low light and image detail substantially.

The GN1 was advertised with a resolution of 100 megapixels, too, but the gsmarena review of the Vivo X50 Pro Plus only contains 50 megapixel photos, so possibly just marketing.
