Anonymous, 05 Mar 2021MediaTek is a Taiwanese and not a Chinese company.Surely Taiwan, ROC, people are Chinese, though not PRC.

I don't think any of the Mediatek people are native Taiwanese (2.3% of the population - https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_Taiwan)

    HQ does not equal Lossless.

YUKI93, 05 Mar 2021No matter how much improvement has done to a certain techno... morePeople over-exaggerate this imo. I don't know what codecs AirPods 2 default to when used on Windows 10 computer, but I often use them for gaming and they don't produce any noticeable delay and still sound really good. Otherwise I run custom modded speakers on Sound Blaster AE-9 that was also upgraded and I simply can't notice any difference.

Would be interesting if anyone managed to use lossless codecs and still keep latency on low level. But we'll need support for it on both ends and probably higher bandwidt than BT 5.0 offers anyway.

AnonD-920712, 05 Mar 2021cant wait for this snapdragon sound. Because playing Games... moreNo matter how much improvement has done to a certain technology, you really can't change the physics nature of it. In this case, the wireless audio connection always suffers from latency lag because the sound is passing through via the software codec, not the analogue converter like in any wired headphones. That is why you never see a gamer use a wireless headphone during gaming, it's never been ideal at all in the first place.

Good to hear about these improvements. But sadly nothing will beat wired quality headphones/earphones. Wireless headphones will ALWAYS have sound latency, lower sound quality, higher cost, in-build planned obsolescence (not user-changeable batteries), a predefined time of usage (batteries needs recharge), more weight, easier to break (more complex-> more prone to get damaged) in comparison to wired headphones.

Wireless will never be any close.

If you have a headphone jack in your phone, then you have no problems with sound quality or latency 😉😉

I wouldn't be surprised if this still runs under LE but with too much compression which negates almost any benefit from 24bit/96hz

Sony's LDAC has shown that "high res BT codecs" aren't really high res and are too unreliable
