Huawei P50 series will be the first to come with HarmonyOS out of the box

The phones recently moved on from HarmonOS 2.0 Beta 2 to Beta 3. Also, Huawei will launch more Petal apps and features.

There is a real chinese fanbase on GSMArena. Their is a stark difference between the treatments of Chinese and non-Chinese brands. It's like Chinese brands are the saviour of the world and non-Chinese ones are evil creatures.
It's funny how people don't care the fact that Huawei lied to their face "a whole new os". People are even dreaming that it will rival android. Keep dreaming, "Huawei will get rid of evil Google".

I believe that was why US stood on the company's neck for their collaboration with Russian experts on new technology and American hates that.         The only 'Harmony' part is using their own kernel, from ground up (main core of the system). The OS is still AOSP, which means heavily optimized Android, not ties with Google Android system arrangement like the rest of Android phones.

        I'm good with that, means all existing android app will working well with it, looking forward how it will turns out. Not so long now.

        Petal Mail are leftout in the article. Also, I thought P50 will use EMUI 11.1 out of the box? Harmony will come later as a choice to update?

          Wait till the devs find out a way to install essentials like YouTube and others

                    Harmony OS is Android, Huawei is not capable of developing a new linux frok for mobiles from zero, nothing, scratch.

                      and there are people believes they build new os by huwaei but its reskin of android open source project which doesn't include google services because its open source

                          From Petal Search you can download apk files but another very different matter is what functions, and many apps need certain files and libraries that Google services provide for those apps to work properly.

You can't make a system from scratch in 1-2 years and expect it to go big. You need some sort of compatibility layer for most of the apps that are already released. It's something Blackberry and Jolla understood from the start. I sincerely doubt that Huawei is going to bother stripping the system off AOSP completely, it's more rational to make use of available good quality open source code and add features of your own to further fragment and break away from (Google's) Android. We live in a time where each year a new Android version is out with a lot of small changes and a lack of overall polish which brings us buggy updates. Why can't we adopt a Windows 10/ArchLinux rolling release approach or, just like Windows did before, bump the OS version once in 3 years???

And even if you manage to get it to work, there are a lot of work-arounds to be made. Majority of people don't want, don't know or just don't have the time to try and made things work. They just want to buy the phone (easy setup, find all the apps that they need in one place) and then immediately start use it. That is one of the reasons people are buying millions of iphones, even though their ecosystem is closed and lacks some features.
                                    Still, this Harmony OS could prove to be a nice third option. If Huawei will continue to develop it even further.
