It seems to me that Huawei will survive & might become bigger than Google.
Especially if other China manufacture such as Xiaomi, Opppo, Vivo join them.
(Xiaomi also being targeted by USA)

They just switching to harmony OS from EMUI just like Vivo switched from Funtouch OS to origin OS.

So far Harmony OS is still Android based thing.
But it will be continually developed and it got China govt incentive as China push to create China brand things for all things really.
China subsidized the creation of china based CPU for all things, to ensure they are not reliant with intel or AMD in the future. It still pretty far from being competitive but it have materialized into a actual CPU and with time (and shitloads of china govt money) it'll get better.

People hoping that Harmony OS will kill Android o iOS. Well, I doubt it. No whatsapp, no youtube, no bank apps, I wonder if they have something similar to Google Pay accepted by the banks worldwide, etc. It will be a very nice smartphone,with a very good camera, no doubts about it, and that`s it. I want to buy the last year P40 pro just to try its camera but here in Spain is still very expensive and knowing that I can´t use most of my daily apps, makes me look to another company. I will wait to see what's next from Xiaomi.

Huawei has to try to reach a new deal with the Biden administration.
They have fallen to seventh place as global manufacturers, and in China Oppo has already surpassed them.
Google's ecosystem apps is so large and well developed that Huawei will continue to lose more market share. And Harmony OS is not the solution.
I'm sorry because their level of cameras and hardware construction is very good, but at the software level they are doomed to continue falling.
And let's also remember that Harmony OS is nothing more than an Android fork.

this harmonyOS is actually just android. they really can't make an os from scratch, it's still based in java and android.
everyone read this, as this harmony os thing isn't actually their own operating system, it's still android and people are fooled by it.

Finally, some fresh thing in this mobile world. I switched between IOS and Android in the last 3 years (up until then had only Windows and Android phones).
Sadly, if the rumors are correct, I don't think they will have much interest outside China. Even in China, they are not on the top spot anymore (market wise). And if prediction are right, they will be 4th in China at the end of 2021. Probably they will focus only on Mate and P series, nothing else. Still, it is a welcomed idea for me.

Everything around this is purely a slap-fight over who should be getting money/power, there is nothing about "people's privacy/safety" in it. Worst part is that from all of this, only the people are loosing - Huawei makes pretty good phones on pretty low price, for a lot of us spending $500++ on a phone is not an option and having a great device at an affordable price was fantastic.
Also if anything, all this showed just how broken Android is if you take Google's APIs away from it - even if you don't care about China at all, you SHOULD be hoping they succeed in releasing and sustaining a viable alternative you can jump to.
Anyway, as for HarmonyOS...it's just Android guys, don't over-hype this.

really great alternative OS by away and it wont go well in North America and western Europe but it will do well in Africa South America Asia and some easter European countries you always need a third OS in this mobile space and we are in for it

Hope for an dream coming true. Nice. Hope their sifyware becomes as lightweight as IOS, customizable as Android, fun to use as Android, but with Huawei services complete and all apps ready. Then Huawei will be able to compete with IOS and GMS android. Nice step. Hope there will be Hcam (Huawei Camera Port), since Huawei's image processing has :
1. Good at HDR
2. Has extreme Dynamic Range
3. Has HDR Fusion Video
4. Super resolution algorithm
5. Night vision mode
6. Auto mode at night that rivals other phones night mode (0.3s vs 3 - 10 seconds)
