Who knows which brand/manufacturer is the one selling their crap under HTC brand this time... I doubt that is HTC the one manufacturing this phone. They are renting their brand as Nokia did with HMD. But HTC seems do it with more than one.

HTC haven’t updated software on their phones for 3 years. I found my U12+ the other day in a drawer and booted it up for old time sake and checked for software updates and they haven’t done a security update since July 2019 and it’s still running android 9. Give up HTC, you were great for a minute.

The definition of insanity is doing something repeatedly and expecting different results. Why does HTC think that people will buy a phone with an obsolete Helio chipset? They would be better off making flagships only and invest their money in marketing instead of crappy midrange/budget devices. I want them to make a comeback, but they just keep doing the same thing over and over. Sony has a mini-renaissance with its flagships. LG is still trying to find new ways to innovate and compete. HTC is just hanging on to the past and relying on VR to make the dough.

The helio P22 has a single core score of between 150 and 170 on geekbench. This is pretty bad. Forget about any kind of gaming on this apart from maybe solitaire or mahjong. LG have also launched the stylo G6 for 299 usd as well. It has a big screen of 6.81" which I like but that's it. LG and HTC seem to be stuck in the past where people would pay over the odds for their phones because of their reputation. You can buy a Redmi note 9 pro 5G for 269 usd so less than the LG Stylo G6 and it's like using an iphone x and then trying to use a blackberry. That's how big the difference is. There's something seriously wrong with these companies. The whole concept of value for money is completely lost on them.
