Report: LG considers shutting down mobile division after sale talks fall through

LG was reportedly talking to Vingroup and Volkswagen to offload the ailing mobile division, but negotiations seem to have failed.

This is very upsetting...LG's phones actually looked and spec'ed differently than everyone else. In the US, there are like zero options for GOOD phones so this story pisses me off.

Sony's the only GOOD option out here for the hardware. Pixels have garbage hardware, Motorola has garbage specs, Samsung is a hypocrite that's removing everything, and Apple...is Apple. We have nothing.

I don't think so. There may be plenty phones with useless 2mp camera sensors today, but I'm pretty sure none of them cost 800 dollars.

        At least 25 million units per year. This is way more than OP, Google and Sony combined.

        The problem is LG sells too small amount of high priced phones . In the end they do not recover the money invested.
        I would not pay $700 on Wing, but I am sure a similar phone from Samsung would cost more than $600 as well .

        LG does not earn tons of subsidies like chinese companies have in China to undercut price of rivals, they do not product many of components used like Samsung. They need to keep operations all around the planet.

        LG should just quit places they do not sell enough.
        Make less models per year.
        More focus on high price devices.

              This is disappointing, LG had some really awesome phones, it's just that the software could be improved, especially the updates. Why don't they try actually improving that instead of abandoning phones altogether?

                Honestly, LG came to sscar good devices in the past, but the new generations do not want a phone that bears the logo of their microwave or washing machine.

                                      Its a pity that lg will end this way. They love experimenting with phones instead of producing phones with practical experience and pay attention to little details. I have used up to 4 lg phones which were never perfect all round. Its either the camera is perfect and battery life is poor or the screen is poor and speaker is perfect. You don't need to do something different, just do what others are doing and make your consumers happy not producing lg wing, lg flex etc that will not interest anyone.
