Malhaar, 28 Mar 2021Something really wrong with Nokia/HMD. Can't believe ... moreMan. I was hoping they would take the light technology seriously and use custom silicon to do a video version in at least 4k, as a premium phone. But, they could do this with 9 pixel single chips versions to do with Sony and Samsung insread.
Theyy could buy LG, and combine best staff and technology portfolio, to do best Phones, Nokia LG premium video camera phone. Something various people would buy. There is various business, industrial and trades usage of good quality mapping slim style phone but weather proofed and optional rugged case for trades and industrial use. Make it privacy too, and that maybe more than 100 million potential customers. Or pretend to be smart, as it slides. It's all over the place, products and strategies which shouldn't be. 99% of people shouldn't be let through the door for these jobs. They need to have position of genius consultants, to assess what's happening and where to go, not silicon and paper (business) wrench monkys to stuff things up. It seems Vivio and Xiaomi are making great strides at the moment. I can nearly guarantee there is enough competent people like this out there to go around, for positions, to prevent companies from going on bad directions, but idiots hire idiots, and once profitable companies start going down hill, and even good people can't get anywhere in companies and have to leave. Microsoft also was terrible for Nokia, as it busted Nokia's flow, just as they were getting to new paths. The remake of Nokia, is the remake, wishful, that we hoped would work, but they don't even have privacy business phones which are something needed, buy often too out of date and expensive.

Nokia was once a brand which was the epitome of creativity. Every phone was different.. something to be excited about. Only LG is left with this kind of things.

Can't believe it even after learning so many lessons from downfall, they aren't able to launch good phones on time especially Flagship phones. Comparing with Oppo, Xiaomi, Vivo, they were nothing in terms of innovation, camera improvement, where Nokia was stood as a pioneer,

Some people left when Nokia mobile sector was sold to Microsoft.
Few years later they decide to open their own phone business.
That's all. This does not turn HMD into Nokia.
It is like saying Essential is Google, because founder is former Google employee.

HMD pays to have Nokia logo.
The nokia logo helped them to sell more.
                      Nokia gets some cash.
                      That is all.

Anonymous, 27 Mar 2021Lenovo 89%... Hmd 88%... xiaomi 74%... Samsung 22%....if yo... moreU know that ALL ur reasonings of HMD failure are loads of BS?

Xiaomi founded in April 2010, launched their first smartphone (Mi 1) 16 months later, and in 2014 has expanded their business in Singapore, expansion to India in 2015 and Brazil, in 2016 they expanded to Bangladesh and Europe, which become their starting point to become worldwide player.

Oneplus founded in December 2013, mostly inspired by Xiaomi who provided cheap but reliable smartphone in China, 4 months later, they stormed the smartphone market with One, a year of its anniversary, they expanded to India and Europe, and in 2015 they expanded to South East Asia, which become their starting point to be known as the upcoming big player in smartphone industry.

See the link? They started as NOBODY, but become SOMEBODY because of GOOD PRICING, EFFECTIVE MARKETING STRATEGY which uses social media (advertising with NEAR ZERO money involved), & future-thinking CEO.
That's why, after strengthen their foothold in local market, in 3 years they quickly expanded to other country, even people going as far as importing their products from China or nearest country where these company officially present, because their products are CHEAP, RELIABLE, and CUSTOMIZE-ABLE (read: unlocked booloader)

Nokia-HMD? They started BIG, riding from the 'nostalgia' people have with their name, sold dirt cheap 3rd rate Chinese ODM-made smartphone for pretty money (the ONLY Foxconn-made ones are the original 5, 6, & 7plus, and 8) which lack QC, which made MOST (if no all) their product broke in a year of use.

I, for once, owned the 8, Nokia-HMD's first flagship; it was HORRIBLE experience, the display didn't respond when touched, NO SERVICE (no signal) after updates, the phone often restarted during gaming because of overheating, the main color camera blurred, and finally, the charging port didn't charged anymore, putting my 8 nail in the coffin.

Nokia-HMD didn't sell because they cut too many corners, heavily invest in advertising, HORRIBLE QC, ABSURD price tag, and ZERO after sales (they don't accept any claims for free repair; I need to pay for the parts, the repair fee, and have to wait for weeks until they done repairing it, which usually done by bogus repairman, because they need to swap ALL the good parts with cheap quality ones so they could get more money from selling original parts)

Speedy, 27 Mar 2021No, Nokia 8.3 is the best oneThat thing is a tablet more than a phone (it's only slightly smaller than the Mate 20X)
Sure I loved it's colourway, but it just is a bit disappointing.
No OIS, 2 crappy 2Mpx cameras, no IP rating (for the price it launched), no OLED (maybe they want only the flagship phones to have that, what year is it), no HRR, no USB 3, not an exciting/eye-catching design, still a huge chin, etc. At least they stuck with the HP Jack, which is appreciated.
Compare it to the 8.1 which was one of the first phones with the SD710, but not too expensive than most chinese phones that arrived later with the same SoC, it had OIS (still barely any mid-range has that, though again with a useless 2nd camera), a nice/unique colour (Iron), a good build/design (with a huge notch tho which was more common back then).
It launched for around Rs.25000 ($345 now) but my father got it almost 2 years back for about Rs.16000 ($220 now) and he's still happy with it.

Exactly true. The Lumia 950 XL, essentially a Nokia phone in all but name, was (and still is) an absolutely beast of a phone, having par excellence Carl Zeiss optics that still today stands tall amongst today's camera flagship phones.

The cream of the Lumia 950 XL was undoubtedly it's OS - the best there ever was, sadly died a slow death at the hands of the belligerent iOS and Android users who knew (and still know) nothing about competent OSes.

My Lumia 950 XL still works, and the only reason I don't use it as much as I would like, is because in the infinite wisdom of Zuckerburg, the WhatsApp is unsupported, and my foolish family and friends refuse to migrate to Telegram, as they love to continue to use a messaging app that has been infiltrated by the Israeli Pegasus spyware developed by the NSO Group, used to continually monitor and track the whereabouts of The Washington Post's journalist Jamal Khashoggi, ultimately to have him butchered and dismembered in 2018.

Nobody cares about security, privacy, or the authenticity of information, for if one did, the Lumia 950 XL would have had numerous amazing successors. Sadly it was not to be, and with that Nokia died.
