I suspect there is room for improvement also on the Ni 11 Ultra with software updates especially in videos. I'm a Huawei fan and love my Mate 20x but won't go another Huawei without Google.

*Shrug. I always set my phone face down. Honestly more worried about scratching the camera, then the screen.

samsung could literally create a 1000mp sensor/1gp sensor yet it would output 12.5mp images because of the 80-in-1 binning technique.

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2021Seeing as the Oneplus 9 Pro doesnt even beat 12 mpix sensor... morethe megapixel race won't stop.

samsung, is the only who likes too many megapixels on a phone, and samsung will create a 200mp sensor that outputs 12mp images. how pathetic

create a large 12mp sensor instead with real rgb bayer instead of quad bayer, so in that way no people shall be fooled by them.

samsung keeps pushing them, but instead they output lower resolution than usual

example: 108mp with 9-in-1 (s20 ultra, s21 ultra, the hm2 sensor, note20 ultra) outputs 12mp images, which is much less detailed compared to the 27mp from their samsung hmx that uses the conventional 4-in-1 binning instead.

the mi 10 pro, mi note 10 pro, and the edge+ has the hmx sensor, and it's still better than the ones on their s20 ultra and s21 ultra, aswell as note20 ultra.

Sadly after checking the DXOMARK review for Mi 11 Ultra seems that for such an expensive price and such a huge camera sensor there is a very small improvement at least for the main camera that i usually care the most. It does beat the S21 Ultra which is a good sign but not that much and funny enough Huawei P40 Pro+ is many times better. Even iPhone 12 Pro Max can be better sometimes. We don't know yet how it is against Vivo X60 Pro+ and also in the future it will be interesting to see what Huawei will reveal for P50 Pro+.
In general i don't think is worth it and is better to wait for another brand to take advantage of such sensor with better image processing. Moreover is too heavy to carry it in your pockets or anywhere everyday with you and Mi 11 Pro is unfortunately available only for China.

"The display can also show you the time and notifications when the phone is on standby but this will only be useful if you keep your phone face down, which most people don't."

                          >>> Well people having phones with huge camera bumps which is common these days do keep their phones face down so as to not scratch the camera lens.
Also People using a case usually have raised borders to prevent the screen from contacting the surface while facing down.

To be honest with all of you, I haven't paid much attention to Xiaomi at all over the past few days (too busy), and I can't be bothered to go check the specs of the said camera. But from what I can tell it's probably another point and shoot camera with a one inch sensor. Let me tell ya folks, neither phones nor point and shoots do low-light well. I don't want a mushy mess, but I also don't want to break my arms off waiting for night mode to do its work. It's just a really bad decision to pit a phone against a camera for low light.

With the Mi10 Ultra offering 120W wired charging, isn't 67W on the Mi11 Ultra a step backwards?

beep bop boop, 01 Apr 2021Xiaomi claims this phone's camera can go neck and neck... moreThe comparison they made was really flawed in the first place. They only compared the low light image quality in auto, a situation where most 1 inch compact cameras fall flat on their face, and even though they pitted the zoom-centric M7 against Mi 11 Ultra, they didn't perform any live test regarding the image quality at 5x zoom. Xiaomi's imaging department told the marketing department not to do it on the stage for a reason - such a comparison would practically make no sense given different use cases and it would potentially cause a severe backlash from the photographer communities, and they knew it.

On Z Fold the secondary display is an absolute necessity for checking notifications, while Mi 11 Ultra's back display can be used to take much higher quality selfie with the main & UWA cameras. I guess they are useful in their own different ways.
