and they did not offer anything that took the fight to the big dogs, they are irrelevant and barely anyone bought them. the last time they made an actually good smartphone was the G6, after that they went downhill due to bad marketing, price to performance ratio was terrible. The V series also did not do them any justice either. did not offer competition

That's unfortunate, I liked the LG G7 very much, a cheap and very featured packed phone if you put aside the lack of updates.

Just like Nokia's downfall, this disaster is thoroughly planned. It is not plain stupidity or an accident.

The real reasons ? You tell me!

If it is true then very sad. LG must be on the board. It really makes a good handsets with great hardware and build. No one could offer. DAC in mobile, military grade standards, dual screen mobile inventions in affordable pricing and many more.
LG need a good marketing leaders and good product managers. Hope it would remain live for decades. All the best LG.

this should be a lesson to some other oems out there (HMD):

If you have utter QC over your devices, then, no matter how much software or hardware specs you put, no one is going to buy your stuff

My LG Velvet got an update to Android 11 last week but I am having scrolling and jitter issues. I suppose I might be out of luck then...

Anonymous, 01 Apr 2021Cause LG starting following stupid trends and couldn’t do i... moreYeah that's the one thing LG never did. They stayed innovative and different, right to the end. They never made a flagship phone that was even remotely similar to the current Samsung or Apple market devices. Instead, they opted for creative disk screen concepts with the wing and the V60/Velvet. I respect LG, but you clearly have no idea what you're talking about.

chris1998, 01 Apr 2021Tbh they pioneered the phone industry along with Nokia. Bet... moreLG didn't pioneer anything, Nokia, Ericsson and Siemens is what you meant.

joe nodden, 01 Apr 2021Good. They do absolutely nothing for the smartphone market ... moreTbh they pioneered the phone industry along with Nokia. Bet you're too young to remember that

Its a sad ending. I've kept every model from G5 to G8, and V30 to V50. Its an irony but may be in desparation they came up with great products. V40, G7, G8 one of best experiences. Better than chinese crap and Samsung as well. Don't know about rest but I preferred their display over samsung each time. Don't know why Samsung's displays are overrated. I always do research and hear great things, note 9, Note 10 displays are great but in day to day use don't know V50 looked more superior. In day to day use not just seeing the wallpapers or home screen.

But its all about business. Blacberry created great hardwares, still using passport as work phone and there is no match. still no match.

Nokia phones were great not these hmds... still has N8 which I take out rarely charged it up and experience the great innovation of that time.

HTC were mixed bag. HTC 10 was actually a very capable device, some great shots captured by it.

All these companies were great. But their issues were they were focussing more on products to cater needs of people rather than marketing gimmicks to lure retailers and buyers. I am sure if there is a shop where retailer present LG G8 and Xiomi or One Plus crap with same enthusiasm, he would be able to sell G8 more easily but guess what G8 was not available at the shop.

nexus 4 = same bootloop problems on many phones and/or hardware buttons fail prematurely

g3 = overheating cpu dead bootloop
g4 = even more instances of the same thing (highest %)
                                  g5= ok less fixed

v10 = released before g5 so also many instances of bootloop death
v20 = released after g5 but for some reason bootloop problems back again

thats 6 dud phones in the span of 2-3 years.
how can you get the public to trust you after that......

Good. They do absolutely nothing for the smartphone market anyways. Utter garbage with every single release. Good riddance.
