Report: LG to exit mobile business after all

01 April 2021
It's looking like the end of the road for LG Mobile.

Sort by:

All they had to do is to maintain the momentum they built with LG G2 but instead it was a nosedive since then!

Phones fan, 01 Apr 2021Sony should learn from LG mistakes before it's too late.learn from XIAOMI thats why sony, lg, htc, nokia, motorola, lenovo and many others almost died. some of them are only released mid to flagship but below that? they are no one interested.. and who buy their flagship? people will choose iphone, samsung, xiaomi.

good bye LG, actually your phone like wings are a futuristic smartphone.. but who buy your flagship except from that phones? you need look your mid to low end phone, thats why you died.

LG leaving mobile business is the saddest thing to hear. I have been a fan of LG. I use LG phones only because of the difference they make to audio quality thru head phone jack with Quad DAC.

I hope they will release Android 11 to my G8x before their wind-up on a good note.

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2021Chinese phones have taken over because they are cheap, not ... moreYou're delusional if you still think the old established crowd makes the best phones i.e. Apple, Samsung, LG, Sony, Nokia etc. The old manufacturers are leaving because they cannot offer the best products at the best prices. Really, when you can buy a phone at $300 that does everything a $1,000 can, why would you even consider the $1,000 unless the brand name is that important to you?

Nexus 4 and 5 had wireless charging back in 2012 and 2013 that some of my more recent phones can't do except Pixel 3. Nexus 5 is arguably the most popular Nexus device ever. LG gets no credit manufacturing the greatest Nexus device of all-time.

I've owned 5 devices manufactured by LG.

                G3 Beat AKA Vigor
                G5
                V20
                Nexus 4
                Nexus 5

I actually liked all of them. While my HTC One (M7) gave me a ton of problems like purple photos and overheating and BlinkFeed became defunct. The M8 couldn't charge correctly and I still got static from the BoomSound on high volume. My Nexus One's power button broke and the touchscreen was only 2-finger touch.

I'm aware of the G4/V10 bootloops or the GPS issues and the image retention of the G5. The latter also plaguing the V20. But from my experience, LG never gave me issues as badly as HTC did. There was a lawsuit that happened with the og Pixel thanks to failed motherboards. HTC manufactured that first generation Pixel and XL.

Folks can say good riddance LG. I'll say goodbye. No manufacturer is perfect. They are all crooks. From Google's spyware and ads to Apple's restrictions and planned obsolescence, they're all bad. Don't trust any phone brand. The only product line I ever truly liked is PlayStation.

I was LG user. I had LG viewty (non smartphone), Prada 3, Vu, G2, G3 and V20. I stopped using LG since V20 and moved on to Samsung and now Oppo, because I experienced bootloop after updated the V20 software. I heard this issue also came to G5 and G6. That made me won't come back to LG

You fanboys are putting numbers up front like people are buying them because they are perfect phones. People are buying them because majority do not want or have the money to spent on phones.
And do not give me that cr*p “Ohhh, I can buy 10 expensive phones if I want too”. How many can afford that? You have what, 0.1% of your population rich? That’s nothing compared to the majority. And the same is for majority of Asia, Africa and South American countries.
So yeah, next time when you come out with 1 billion Chinese phones sold, go into detail and see how many of those are actually good nice phones (like the Mi 10 Ultra or Mi 10T Pro) and how many are cr*p sub 300EUR ones. Good only until the first major Android update. Lol.

In those days, competition for the best Flagship of the year used to be between LG, Samsung and HTC.

In 2021, the competition is between Samsung, Xiaomi and a couple of others.
Huawei used to be part of that before the lack of Google Play services fiasco.
