Sad to hear lg is winding it's mobile division.
Now only Samsung left if one needs non Chinese brand.

this is bad news in the smartphone industry...
well, not with lg since they are doing good in home appliances...
if this continues, we will be having oligopoly of mobile devices where we will few options and be flooded with max specsheets but mediocre experience in terms of audio (quad dac of lg, unless asus put on their zenfones), visuals, build quality etc, and google will be happy of "planned obsolescence" called updates so that people will not care about device longevity... then change phones every year, or less than that since people always chase the fastest soc and greatest ram rom mah config...

To bad with one less option. But LG is basicly out from most markets. Still got a US precence. But I suppose thats it. I think LG G6 was a nice phone, but they made 3 version of it. A Asian, North America and a Europe model. A huge mistake. Europe got the worst one. And the LG phone business never recover after that.

And also with what they ask for the junk Velvet series you can buy phones like Mi Note 10 or the future Note 11, Vivo X50 pro and X60 Pro, etc, with flagship cameras and also full of features depending of the model you choose. This year also all them will come with updated powerful midrange chipsets at better price that what LG offer. There is no reason to waste money in their overpriced mid and low range LG phones that also lacks of a proper support. Their flagships were also abandoned and rarely found in some market.
Another bad pollitic in LG is split the models from each market/area with different hardware making them incompatible between each other in ROMs, so you can't profit ROMs from unlockable phones forced by low in Europe for example and buy the asian models with better and more cameras, Quad DAC, etc. Too many variant of a same model that is a complete mesh in terms of hardware and choose but also in software and support. LG customers have been hating it forever. Forums are full of complains against it with LG doing nothing about it.

If they would just lower their price, I think they could do better. their cellphones totality is balance but the pricing is too high. Imagine the Velvet's pricing where you can get a flagship at that price point. Their phones' build and design are great though. RIP LG smartphones.

And I'm pretty sure Samsung is not doing it out of charity at that price point, so it should be profitable enough. LG could do the same, except throw quad-dac on top to stand out.
But yeah, its better to just throw away years and years of R&D, shut down mobile division and have that talent waste away in home appliances.

Oh no! My favorite brand...😪 the last 3 phone's was V20, V30, and now G8X... Always happy with them ! Probably I will get the V60 before is to late...
After that ... I don't know what I will choose... 😵

I was eagerly waiting for the v70/rainbow model. Loved lg since the v10. Their failure is probably the result of poor marketing decision and as well as poor research. Where they were pioneer in many features that are common in every smart phone, there it is hard to believe that they are making an exit. I still wish they should just change the decision making people and give another try.

If hey p... morethis means you don't have an LG phone , I still Sport G7 for about 2.5yr and yet I still receive security patch and the phone works flawlessly , I don't know in which era you live cause got better with software in the last two years.
Velvet and V60 already got A11 , V50 yesterday got March security patch .
LG beta are even stable than most OEM official release lol

In the flagship, Huawei, Oppo, Vivo, Xiaomi were killing samsung in camera tech.
Fact:
In mid-range and low-end
Samsung can't fight Xiaomi & Realme.
Samsung in-house exynos chip just too slow.
And samsung keep insisting of using slow CPU

I've bought almost 3 mobiles of LG. They last only for an year. Afterwards service will not be there. Lack of quality and the wrath of the customers was the only reason, today the company is shut!
If they plan to start again after few years, they should focus on quality and longevity, else the same results will prevail!

We Believe LG after samsung we expect more quality mobiles from LG But they are not concentrating on new mobile designs and new styles people always prepare to low cost mobiles for example LG k42 , 3GB+64GB combination is worst
3+32, 4+64 like this mobile we love and priceshould be below 10000
Thickness should be less like below 7mm or below 8mm maximum

if they would focus on quality over quantity they would not have such problems.
for me they should get some known joint venture(other brand name), and create just one device per year, high end one with good price and boost it for 1-2 years to get good opinion, the same way oppo created oneplus(no one wanted some chinese brand so they created new brand that dont stink). They should just skip low end devices completely because that what drag them down, skip classic advertising(too expensive) focus on "ecological packaging" for bragging rights and push more software R&D(its cheaper than hardware and can get some bragging rights).
Sony did very similar thing limiting number of devices, Apple always did that(but they had to make more versions to flood lower market) and as we saw with oppo and xiaomi(poco series, at least first one) rebranding to pseudo-separate company that sell just one series of devices as cheap premium devices can work.

Im my 6 months ownership of g8x as a secondary device.. i faced automatic shutdowns and slowdowns Numerous times. Even my 3 year old oneplus 5t felt faster .. smoother and Used to received more updates than this lg. Security updates.. don’t care much.. but optimization updates are must.. to comply with app updates
