Because everyone knows apple and samsung they gained very big brand name (which of course help you sell), htc doesnt have that, lg doesnt have that. Thats why they cant sell their phones.
I ask this differently, if you want to buy camera you mostly choose canon or nikon, even theres many other brands, but everyone knows canon and nikon so its safe bet and you know the camera is going to be great.
It just same for apple and samsung nowdays. People knows those brand much better than others, before it was nokia.

iPhone5 is just yesterday technology.... moreUmm i'm not yet familiar about BB's having NFC as of this time. The feature may be available when BB10 arrives.
As far as I know, the S3 and some mid end andriods models have one. This is a cool feature and I hope it will be a standard to all smartphones.

I bet it would sell by the millions even if it was a turd with an Apple logo on it...
Then again, Samsung is shelling out new models faster than they can sell them. Naturally you can't build up such hype. If they only offered 3 phones and one of these 3 would be super high end, they'd probably get similar attention. But then again Samsung (or any other brand that ain't Apple) sells because of the practicality, looks and price, not because of the brand itself.

This is a failure if u ask me.5 million from top 9 countries in the world ,which is more countries than the 4s was launched in with 4 million phones sold .The investors must be having second thoughts.America alone should have sold 5 million phones with the hype that was generated.

The ifans will think we are liein and still be falled and go buy the same design for many yrs to come.
Apple are laughing at ifans and knows all they have to do is do good marketing and the ifans will stay forever. Most ifans have no clue about tech and specs.
