ethereal, 05 Apr 2021Good bye LG! I'll keep your G8x running for as long as... moreI do hope that LG Mobile can make a comeback in the future. It feels so wrong for LG to close its smartphone division considering how many innovations they have made before.

Mr.Gboy, 05 Apr 2021I can still use my velvet and v60 for 10 more years. No worryVelvet is a beautiful phone

My V60 is a disappoinment, I always saw LG as underrated and a great buy especially for the money. However after less than 5 months of owning the V60 the USB C charging port is loose inside and a little bump from a pebble on the road and the phone will disconnect from Android Auto. It's so freaking annoying. It's a well documented issue. It's believe to be from the dual screen case and the constant bending of the USB C port when taken out.

Rkm, 05 Apr 2021Audiophiles, let's weep in the corner for a minute At least ASUS now put the same DAC that LG put on their phones on the new ROG Phone 5. Maybe I should consider that, even though I know that it is a gaming-centric smartphone in the first place. If I can sacrifice DAC (which is totally unlikely), I might be looking at Sony as well since they put the headphone jack back.

Xioami succes in the world shows you do not have to do business in America to be a successful mobile giant . they were ranked number 3 in north America something sony will kiss the sky to have . the velvet is a beautiful phone .they just had to stay in the market for 2 more years .their management needs serious replacement .

Looks like I better buy the Wing 5G and also the V60 with its DualScreen case before they become a hot collector's item among true tech enthusiasts. Also, I do hope that LG can release the Android 11 update for the V50 and also the Wing 5G. The new Screen+ Desktop Mode in Android 11 is something the V50 and the Wing 5G definitely should have!

YUKI93, 05 Apr 2021For midrange sector, yes - there is a lot. For flagship? Yo... moreAsus and LG, sure. Sony? Nah, I don't like their phone designs, batteries be real small, and software is meh for me.

Good thing I never got that v60... ooof, sucks they were the few companies that gave big batteries, headphone jack, and other stuff.

As a tech and phone enthusiast for almost 2 decades, I find this saddening news.

                        What a sad day!

LG Nexus 5 remains my favourite smartphone - it was exceptional when it was first released and remained so for a few years after. LG V20 features a camera which is still (!) better than most newly released smartphones. Don't believe me? Open a photo comparison tool here on GSMArena.

The talent in the company has been huge but somehow their marketing has failed.

I think HTC is in worse condition than Sony.

Sony at least still have Camera as their strength
Meanwhile, HTC is just "generic" with premium price.

                                1. Huawei. Network testing.UI Stability.Own chipsets.5G. China funds.Massive cheap labor.
                                2. Google.Network testing. UI stability (literally they use stock android). 5G. Chipsets sold for cheap since they are an american brand. USA funds. Massive cheap labor. Fun and testing project for their developers to have as side project. For google, these phones are released once a year during Q4 and are mostly released just for fun and to keep poor brands like HTC up and running.

Both companies get MASSIVE and i mean MASSIVE research data from customers since both own networks and websites. LG owns nothing in the network department and relies on hardware sales. Their software and UI support is next to non existent. These phones are basically mini gold mines for both Chinese and American goverment to get your data and interests and sell it to Advertisement companies.
