ProMaster96, 05 Apr 2021RIP LG. Another phone's elder has passed away. Who is ... moreJust wait and see the glorious 1 III! It will be a huge upgrade over the 1 II that is for sure. The rumored specs are very good, and we will even see a 65 Watt charger! That is a wow!

Sad. But if LG wouldn't use these crappy P22/P35 SoC's on ALL their mid-range phones, the last couple of years, people would actually buy their phones (me included). My last LG phone (LG Optimus L9 II) was from 2014.
I hope they will come some day back.

Very bad decision! Very bad! Instead of releasing the first rollable phone, they choose to end the game! Instead to change their marketing strategy, they choose to kill the brand, and I suppose after 3, 4 years they will change their mind and will try to come back, but this might be more hard to do! There are brands which are worse than LG, yet they can sell their phones because they have a much better marketing strategy.

After Pantech, sadly another South Korean mobile manufacturer has shut down its mobile division. Only Samsung remains, hopefully they keep going against cheap and growing number of chinese handsets.

In my opinion - it is very good for LG. They can concentrate more on other, already developed, products.

Cause it has an average endurance rating of 84 horurs. And there are several phones with the same battery that has more than that. XD. Sony not Apple.

Now they throw in "clean" Android because they don't want to fine-tune their own Launcher. Remove old better apps like Album, Sony used to have its own for song recognition! And now it's practically Shazam.
I can see that Sony is cutting costs very much ... how much they have left before they withdraw?

RIP LG. Another phone's elder has passed away. Who is next? Sony? I hope not. I read some article, their mobile division is no longer in red and start gaining a profit although they only sell less than a million units a year.

They were in a "coma" for some time already. They will be missed only by few people anyway.
Also, like they said officially, they could invest time and money on other departments and projects. So, is better this way, imo.
I think HTC, Nokia and even Sony should do the same. It looks like it's bad for competition purposes, but I doubt companies like Samsung, Apple or Xiaomi were looking or pay any attention at this companies (LG, HTC, Nokia) in recent years.

The end of an era. Chinese companies and the others are left - which make phones that look the same. So they copy the appearance of Samsung and Apple, it past again Sony or HTC.
And today ... RIP LG, Nokia, HTC. Sony hardly produces anymore. HTC ... practically ceases to be available in some countries and probably earns nothing on phones.
Nokia ... sold the phone department years ago to Microsoft or rather was framed for it because her boss was a former Microsoft employee who chose Widnows Phone as the only system, and Nokia hardly survived it.
There are 4 companies at the moment - Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi and BBK Electronics (OnePlus, Oppo and Realme are one owner). In addition the software in chinese phone brands is...underdeveloped, especially for consumers in Europe, the USA.

                          nooooo

They deserved it first for not providing basic spare parts like batteries, and second for garbage software support.

Misfit2Fields, 05 Apr 2021Asus and LG, sure. Sony? Nah, I don't like their phone... moreI beg to differ, it was their so-called "meh" software that allows it to run longer than any phones with a larger battery but with a custom UI. If Sony gives a 5,000mAh battery for the 1 iii and also the 5 iii, it would easily be an endurance champ. I also like their design because there is no notch or punch hole interruption when watching videos totally full screen, and I deeply value that.

Sony is putting much efforts in Xperias these days. Last two Xperias have everything Sony fans asked for. The next will be HTC I think. They're just being lazy and suicidal.

LG mobile was an innovator who fell prey to the marketing tactics of chinese OEMs with predatory but unsustainable pricing and a bit their own laxity. Flagship killers eventually replace another OEM at premium prices. God knows when will people understand that a business cannot run on flagship killers and eventually, we will be out of choices. Owned an LG G4 and it worked like a charm. HTC One was a priced possession as well. Now an S10 and wondering what lies ahead in the future with Oppo, OPO, Xiaomi, Realme and others with generally poor software and too many models or price hike to flourish. Apple is beyond my pocket and currently, an S10 makes my life easier. A52 5G next year or so should help too. Sad to see fewer OEMs in the game and consumers will blame them for being not competitive as usual. Sad irony of the majority, We need high grade specs at rock bottom prices with best software support and after sales! Samsung and Apple are a joke and chinese OEMs are the way to go. 😥😓
