05 April 2021
The company is leaving the phone business - a business to which it had contributed so much. Here's a look back at all the innovations by LG.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2021Thanks lg for coming to your senses. You will not be missed. Too bad there is no way to dislike a troll comment.

LG Wing was the first wing phone haha 😁 Very innovative ideas I admit.

Thanks lg for coming to your senses. You will not be missed.

As opposed to sony, they did not push despite being in red, which is sad as they were more innovative...even recently with a wing.

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2021LG problem was more about their awful design and weird idea... morebut LG was willing to try new things, they did not really follow the rest of the market, they have brought so many damn good features into this market just by experimenting

LG problem was more about their awful design and weird ideas. than their hardware... look how pixel was popular.

I am still using LG phone. It'sbeen like that in the past 4 years.

ae86, 05 Apr 2021Just wait and see LG will resurrect this division maybe in ... moredoubt

LG also had some of the best sounding ringtones on their phones back around 2004 and 2005. That shouldn't be forgotten.

This is honestly quite sad, until I got my OnePlus 7T last year, every single one of my main phones was an LG. I'll never forget my first phone and how surprisingly great it was for a budget phone at the time, the LG Optimus L90.

im still going for the v50 and i dont care about software updates
v50 is the BEST phone i ever laid my eyes on, great hardware and SD 855 that will destroy these midranger chips on performance charts
                                  $279 on ebay, new condition
im trying to avoid apple and samsung after they make these really stupid decisions of slowing down their phones and taking away the charger so they can take money away from us

"We don’t know why LG never managed to capitalize on its innovations"
Too innovative (niche products), too early (some innovations were killed in the next generation), too expensive and with very limited availability (sometimes cut-down version of the flagship was sold at a flagship price, right next to a Samsung flagship at a similar price, except Samsung was better in every way). Some innovations were quite invisible to average user (like quad dac) and didn't manage to get into mainstream devices (like quad dac - it did not get into velvet series, as far as I know, Samsung even put 64mp camera with OIS into A52).

Oh, and Xiaomi and company put a HUGE dent in their sales by selling similarly specced flagships at HALF the price. Can't beat that.

This is just my opinion. I really loved their LG G2, was looking forward to V70 (I was using S7 after switching from G2 the entire time) and was interested in V60 but that one never got a price cut (I'm lucky - I can buy it here straight from a carrier, unlocked (no locked version exists in EU, they're illegal now)... except the price is the same as Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra / Samsung S21... plus?).

If only V60 had a high refresh rate screen...

Anonymous, 05 Apr 2021Price. Cheaper phones = lower profit margin this wireless thing inside the phone or just have it between phone and case cost less then 1 euro in aliexpress. Now think of it for the phone companies that probably cost 5 cents if even that, for them if they buy like million of them. What low profit margin your on about ? It's not like i am talking about the fast wireless chargers. Budget phones already have these 15-18w fast charging with wire so whats this 2.5W-5W wireless be so much for it ?

It's a mistake, Sony was in a horrible position but the CEO said there is huge opportunity in the future of mobile and it will be harder to ever re-enter the market after exiting it. Keep a minimal presence but don't quit it.
